There is little chance of running out of things to do in the Commonwealth asFallout 4has hundreds of quests to keep any Sole Survivor busy. However, while many will be familiar with the main questline, faction missions, and the more common side quests, there are also plenty of quests that go unnoticed. And with the influx of new players due to Amazon Prime’s awesomeFalloutseries, it’s time to shine a light on some hiddenFalloutgems.
Dotted throughout the Commonwealth’s various locations there are plenty ofeasy-to-missFallout 4quests, some with genuinely fascinating stories. Like anyFalloutgame or open-world RPG,exploring and chatting with NPCs is a great way to find new side queststhat might have been missed during a previous playthrough. However, there are times when events have to happen in a particular order for a quest to trigger, meaning that these quests are easier to miss than most.

10Two Repeatable Vault 81 Quests
Two Ways To Make Easy Caps
Many will already know about the repeatable quests from factions inFallout 4available for the Sole Survivor, such as protecting settlements for Preston or collecting technology for Scribe Haylen. However, there are plenty of other repeatable quests to find andtwo can be picked up very easily from Vault 81. The first is“Maintenance Man”and will be given by Calvin Whitaker, who will offer to buy any tools the Sole Survivor has for 15 caps each.
Calvin will buy adjustable wrenches, ball-peen hammers, combination wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, and wrenches.

The second can be gained after speaking with Dr. Penske, where she will give the Sole Survivor a fresh mutfruit. After eating it and speaking with her again, Penske will give the quest“Fertilizer Woman,”asking for bags of fertilizer whichshe will buy for 25 caps a bag. While there are plenty of places to find the bags all over the Commonwealth, three locations make this quest much easier: nine bags of fertilizer can be found at Graygarden, eight at Acadia, and seven at Greentop Nursery.
9Trouble Brewin' - Hotel Rexford
Pick Up Your Own Beer Brewing Robot
The Hotel Rexford in Goodneighbor might not be everyone’s first stop when exploring the area, but stepping inside and speaking with the hotel’s handyman Rufus will start the quest“Trouble Brewin’.”Rufus will send the Sole Survivor to the Shamrock Taphouse toretrieve a unique protectron called Drinkin’ Buddy, who is able to brew his own beer. The Taphouse is full of raiders with Buddy down in the basement locked in his pod.
Buddy’s pod is locked with an expert-level terminal, but the password can be found in the basement on top of some shelves under a red flashing light.

After finding Buddy, the Sole Survivor can escort him to Rufus in Goodneighbor for 200 to 400 caps and XP. However, there is another option for those who love Buddy’s dad jokes, as he can be kept.Buddy can be sent to any owned settlementand can be given new recipes to make other drinks, making him a greatuniqueFallout 4settler.
8A Pillar Of The Community - Charles View Amphitheater
Quickly Join A Cult
Anyone who has done the fantastic Cabot House questline will be familiar with the Pillars of the Community cult operating out of the Charles View Amphitheater on the banks of the river. However, what many might not realize is thatthis cult can be joined if those quests haven’t been picked up. Heading over to the Amphitheater, the Sole Survivor will be greeted by the leader, usually named Brother Andrew or James.
After making impressive-sounding promises about improving people’s lives, the leader will invite the Sole Survivor to join. Once they have agreed, they will be led into the back office and asked to hand over all their belongings. From there, the Sole Survivor can eithercall out the obvious scam which will result in all the cultists becoming hostile, or comply and hand over everything in their inventory. However, if handed over, the only way to retrieve items again is to pickpocket the leader or kill him.
7Mystery Meat - Longneck Lukowski’s Cannery
Get To The Bottom Of What Is Making People Sick
SometimesFallout 4quests need the Sole Survivor to be in the right place at the right time and“Mystery Meat”is one of those quests. While the quest can be picked up directly by heading to Longneck Lukowski’s Cannery,it is also possible to gain it from a random encounter with a sick wastelander. Entering the factory, the owner, Theodore, can be found arguing with Trader Rylee about the quality of his meat products.
10 Weirdest & Strangest Fallout 4 Side Quests That You May Have Missed
Fallout 4 has tons of places to explore and side quests to keep players busy, and some of them can end up being truly bizarre experiences.
From there, the quest is fairly straightforward with Theodore offering caps if the Sole Survivor clears out some mole rats that seem to be the issue. He will tell them not to go into the basement, which, of course, I always do, where it is revealed thatTheodore is adding ghoul meat to his food. Theodore can either be killed or negotiated with to complete this easy-to-overlook side quest.
6The Marowski Heist - Diamond City
Perfect Follow-Up To A Previous Quest
While some quests require a specific location, others need the Sole Survivor to have made particular decisions on a previous quest.“The Marowski Heist”is a follow-up to“Diamond City Blues,”butwill only be available if Paul Pembroke died at any point during the previous quest. With Paul dead, his widow Darcy will approach the Sole Survivor after 24 hours have passed looking for her husband. A week after that conversation, a photo can be obtained from Darcy of the three men involved in the Marowski Heist.
The Marowski Heist was pulled off by Paul Pembroke, Malcolm Latimer, and Henry Cooke, where they broke into a chem warehouse owned by Marowski.
From here, the Sole Survivor can either blackmail Malcolm Latimer for 400 to 600 caps or take the photo to Marowski. This is the more profitable optionas Marowski will give 500 caps and offer another 300 for the death of Malcolm Latimer. The quest concludes by returning to Darcy, where the Sole Survivor can choose whether to split the caps with her or not.
5Quality Assurance - General Atomics Factory
Survive Three Test Rooms
While exploring the General Atomic Factory in the east of the Commonwealth, just slightly northwest of the Castle, the Sole Survivor can find a door on the ground floor with a notice on the floor that reads, “Test Area.” Entering the area will begin the quest“Quality Assurance,”where the Sole Survivor will have tosuccessfully complete three different trialsdesigned for Miss Nanny bots.
The tests are fairly easy, with the reward for completing all three being a safe with fusion cores inside. In the first room, the radio needs to be turned off. In the second room, the bottle needs to be brought to the teddy in the crib. In the third room, all dangerous objects need to be moved, such as the machete in the fridge, the cleaner on the nightstand, and the wrench from the footstool.
4Shipbreaker - Far Harbor Island
The Trick Is Finding The Broadcast
While some quests are easy to obtain but complicated to complete, others are the opposite.“Shipbreaker”is a side quest inFallout 4’sFar HarborDLC, which also acts as Old Longfellow’s companion quest. The quest itself is simple: find the legendary fog crawler known as Shipbreaker and kill her to get the unique harpoon Skipper’s Last Stand. However, actuallygetting the quest is the tough part.
To get the quest“Shipbreaker,”the Sole Survivor will need to pick up Shipbreaker’s radio frequency on their Pip-Boy, which will randomly occur on the Island. It has triggered in several locations for me, each time in a different place, but generally, it will be close to the coast. This can be extremely frustratingand spoils what is an otherwise greatsecret boss fight inFallout 4.
3Recruit Professor Scara - Diamond City
The Brotherhood Has A Backup Plan
As part of the Brotherhood of Steel questline, the Sole Survivor is asked to retrieve Dr. Li from within the Institute. Elder Maxson wants her to help repair Liberty Prime in order to fight the other shadowy faction and getting Li to leave isn’t too hard. However, if the Sole Survivor gets banished from the Institute before Li leaves, thenit would be easy to assume the quest will fail.
Professor is Scara’s first name, not her title.
Instead, Maxson will be annoyed but has a backup plan and willsend the Sole Survivor to Diamond City to recruit a new scientist. This will be Professor Scara, who should be at the Science! Center along with her partner, Dr. Duff, but is off on a field expedition. Scara will be at the Galleria in the bowling alley studying the robots there and, after a brief conversation, will head to Boston Airport.
2Plugging A Leak - Institute HQ
As the Institute is set up asFallout 4’s primary antagonist group, there aren’t too many who will have sided with them in the main questline. Although I have done an Institute playthrough more than once,I didn’t find this quest for a long time as it requires the Sole Survivor to have never completed any of the Railroad’s quests.“Plugging a Leak”is a great quest, but will be completely unobtainable if“Tradecraft”has been completed.
10 Fallout 4 Quests With The Biggest Choices & Outcomes
Fallout 4 has plenty of quests to keep players occupied and some of them force the Sole Survivor to make some big choices with permanent consequences.
During the quest, acting SRB directorDr. Ayo will ask for the Sole Survivor’s help in finding out who in the Institute has been helping Synths escape. Following the clues leads to Liam Binet, a teenager, who will make a proposal to frame Ayo, who is bullying other Institute scientists. The Sole Survivor can either turn Liam in for 1,000 caps or help frame Ayo for Liam’s Glasses, which boost the Sole Survivor’s Intelligence stat by two.
1The Memory Den - Goodneighbor
Make A Beeline For Goodneigbor Before Meeting Nick
Finally, a short early-game quest that is locked out for many players can be gotten from Irma in Goodneighbor’s Memory Den.“The Memory Den”quest is simple enough, head to the Memory Den, speak to Irma, and eitherpay or persuade her to allow the Sole Survivor to use a memory lounger. The memory that will be relived will be the murder of their spouse and the kidnapping of Shaun, just as with Kellogg’s memories in“Dangerous Minds.”
However, the reason mostFallout 4players will never see this quest is that it can be locked out very early, asit relies on the Sole Survivor never meeting Nick Valentine. Once the quest to rescue Nick from Vault 114 has begun,“The Memory Den”will be unobtainable and will disappear from the quest log if it had been gained. Interestingly, it is only during this quest that the character’s spouse will be referred to as Nate or Nora by the Sole Survivor.
Fallout 4
Bethesda’s action RPG Fallout 4 puts players into the vault suit of the Lone Survivor, a pre-war soldier from an alternate future cryogenically frozen inside Vault 111. After their infant son is kidnapped, they venture out into the irradiated wasteland of the Commonwealth to scour the ruins of Boston for any sign of him. In doing so, they encounter various factions and companions and use an array of skills and abilities to navigate the apocalyptic remnants of society.
