Prison Breakintroduced audiences to some of the best characters in a TV drama. Though the show had a high kill count, some of its best and most interesting characters are still alive, which leaves the door open for a cameo in the upcoming reboot. It has been confirmed that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will not be reprising their roles as Michael and Lincoln, but this does not mean that other members ofthe Fox River Eightcould not appear. So far, thePrison Breakreboot’s plot has been kept under wraps, so there is potential for familiar faces.
Hulu has ordered a pilot episode of a newPrison Breakseries, which appears to be a way to test the water with a new potential audience. This is likely to be a smart decision, asPrison Break’s season 5 was considered a mistake. ThePrison Breakreboot will take place in the same universe as the original series but is considered a “soft” reboot, bringing in different aspects of the story rather than taking the story back to its past characters. That said, there are several characters from the original show who should make an appearance.

10Lisa Tabak
The General’s Conflicted Daughter Looked Set To Inherit The Company
Prison Breakgave viewers a minor twist when it was revealed that one of the six executives guardingThe Company’s mysterious Scyllawas General Krantz’s daughter. While this had the potential to affect Krantz through blackmail or peril, he and Lisa did not appear to be as close as other familial relationships on the show. That said, when Krantz was arrested and subsequently executed, the question of who inherited The Company was an interesting one.
Prison Breakis no stranger to extreme retcons, so although it appeared that The Company would die with Krantz, that does not mean that this will be the case in the reboot. Lisa made no secret of the fact that she disagreed with her father’s approach, and has an antagonistic relationship with Gretchen. As one of just two surviving Scylla card holders, thePrison Breakreboot could show her version of The Company, and potentially her revenge on Gretchen.

9Manche Sanchez
Nearly Escaped In Prison Break Season
Manche was a minor character in the original series, but his job in the prison laundry gave him small roles in the escape operation. Still, he managed to find himself a part of the escape, but along with Westmoreland, he didn’t make it across the wire. Manche is the only surviving member of the group who tried to escape but failed, which added years to his prison sentence and likely gave him some complicated feelings.
Why Every Member Of Prison Break’s Fox River Eight Was Originally In Jail
The Fox River Eight are Prison Break’s core cast that manage to escape Fox River Penitentiary. Each of them are in prison for different reasons
Manche is Sucre’s cousin, and as Sucre is alive and well, it is possible that the two could be in communication. While it is unlikely that Sucre would visit Fox River Penitentiary, he is a family man at heart, and going free while Manche remained in prison would likely play on Sucre’s conscience.Depending on when the reboot is set, Manche could also be freeand trying to stay out of trouble. Either way, it would tie up a loose end to find out what happened to Manche.

8Caroline Reynolds
A Showdown With Kellerman Could Be Interesting
ThePrison Breakreboot needs to fix its female characters, and a way to do that could be to bring back Caroline Reynolds.Caroline was one of the most interesting villains in the show, but her incestuous relationship with her brother and position as a head of state closely resemblesGame of Thrones' Cersei Lannister. Continuing her story in a different direction could help overshadow this parallel and give Caroline a battle with an old enemy.
Kellerman might be dead according toPrison Breakseason 5, but if he is alive after all, both characters could find themselves in powerful positions on opposite sides. Kellerman is not the only enemy that Caroline could pursue because, with The Company gone, this eliminates one of the biggest threats to her. Many characters double-crossed Caroline inPrison Break, and is she came back on a revenge mission, she would be a formidable adversary.
7Michael Jr.
Michael’s Son Could Have Inherited His Father’s Prison-Breaking Skills
If aPrison Breakreboot continued the story after a long break, this would give Michael’s son the chance to grow up and start a lifewith all the potential for trouble that Michael had. Michael Jr. has been through a lot in the show, from losing his father to discovering that his stepfather is a villain. That said, he clearly has similar mathematics and analysis skills to his father, which means that he has a lot of potential in life and in thePrison Breakreboot.
On the other hand, he could be a main character, either working to break an innocent person out of prison, or a villain, which would be an unexpected and exciting development for the show.
If Michael Jr. was to appear in thePrison Breakreboot, it would likely be in one of two ways.Michael Jr. could make a small cameo appearanceso that viewers could be assured that he is safe and happy. On the other hand, he could be a main character, either working to break an innocent person out of prison, or a villain, which would be an unexpected and exciting development for the show.
6Sasha Murray
Kaley Cuoco Would Be An Exciting Addition To The Cast
Sasha might have been a minor character inPrison Breakseason 2, but she is extremely memorableas she is played by Kaley Cuoco, who has since risen to fame withThe Big Bang Theory. Sasha was a significant part of Haywire’s story, which contained some of themost tragic moments inPrison Break. Sasha was living with her abusive father before Haywire killed him, which could set up a cameo from Cuoco.
Sasha refused to tell the police anything about Haywire, in gratitude for him saving her from her father. This gave her the freedom to pursue a different life, and she already admired Haywire’s sense of adventure and determination.A cameo from Sasha would allow audiences to see Haywire’s legacy living on, and Cuoco would likely be a big draw for new audiences. While she has branched out, working in a wide range of genres, playing Sasha again may be an interesting challenge for Kaley Cuoco.
5L.J. Burrows
After Being A Major Character, Lincoln’s Son Was Absent In Season 5
Of the mainPrison Breakfamily, Michael is generally credited with the brains to manipulate situations, while Lincoln tended to rush into them without considering his options.Lincoln’s son, L.J. appears to take after Michael, filming agents, luring them into traps, and often outsmarting them despite his young age.
His season 2 escape attempt from the court building might have worked if the agent with him had been anyone other than Mahone.
ThoughL.J. had the potential to grow into a significant character in the later seasons, with a key role as part of Michael and Lincoln’s team, he was largely ignored inPrison Breakseason 5. Rather than join his family, the show chose to portray L.J. as a kid who just wanted a normal life. With L.J. appearing to get his wish, he cameo as a guiding character for a similar troubled teen, after getting the peaceful life that he had been working towards.
4Sucre
The Fan Favorite Character Should Return, If Only For A Scene
Fernando Sucre quickly became a fan favorite in the originalPrison Breakseries, and of all the Fox River Eight, his goal was one of the simplest. Sucre’s journey to reunite with Maricruz, marry her, and be a father to his child was a long and occasionally frustrating one, but he had one of the happiest endings out of allthePrison Breakcharacters. That said, Sucre often returned when his friends needed him, even risking his own freedom.
Prison Break’s Reboot Is Avoiding The Mistake That Killed The Original Show After Season 1
Prison Break might be getting a reboot at Fox, but it looks like it won’t be making the mistake that the original show did after season 1.
Sucre could return to cameo in thePrison Breakrebootif any of the characters from the original series were in trouble or needed his help. A storyline like this could be significant, with Sucre returning as a main character, or comparatively minor, with Sucre driving a getaway vehicle or being a phone contact. Considering his popularity, a Sucre cameo would likely be welcomed no matter how large or small a role he played.
3Kellerman
The Former Villain Could Have Faked His Own Death (Again)
Kellerman’sPrison Breakstory took him from being one of the most unlikeable antagonists in the show to one of its biggest heroes, saving Sara from jail. Kellerman knew his days were numbered when he testified against The Company, appearing to be shot dead shortly afterward. However, he was revealed to be alive at the end of season 4. While Kellerman seems to have been killed by Van Gogh in season 5, this could also be retconned.
Kellerman is a smart character, with military, high-level law enforcement, and political experience. This allowsPrison Breakto bring him back anywhere, under many different circumstances but likely in a mysterious and top-secret job. AsKellerman had a major role in taking down Caroline Reynolds inPrison Breakseason 2, a return for Kellerman could set up a battle between the two of them. His character arc could even continue, with Kellerman being one of the heroes right from the start of the reboot.
2Gretchen
One Of The Most Dangerous Prison Break Characters Should Have A Central Role
Gretchen was only introduced in the later seasons ofPrison Break, but she made her mark on the show as one of the most complex and unpredictable characters. Gretchen has a complicated and painful backstory, with a daughter in her sister’s care and multiple scars from being tortured. As her allegiances regularly shifted throughout the show,Gretchen was a difficult character to understand, but if thePrison Breakreboot brought her back, this could change.
Setting the show in a women’s prison would be an interesting twist, and as Gretchen already has many skills, it would be interesting to see how she could use them to escape.
Prison Break: The Final Breakfits into the show’s timelinejust before the final moments of season 4’s finale, which leaves Gretchen in prison. With the reboot being set in the same universe as the original series,it is possible that the character breaking out of prison would be Gretchen. Setting the show in a women’s prison would be an interesting twist, and as Gretchen already has many skills, it would be interesting to see how she could use them to escape.
1Mahone
He Is One Of Prison Break’s Best Characters But Was Neglected In Season 5
Shortly after his introduction in season 2, Alex Mahone was already figuring out thehidden messages in Michael Scofield’s tattoos. Mahone grew even more of a danger to the Fox River Eight from then on, ashe was the onlyPrison Breakcharacter who was a match for Michael Scofield’s intelligence. With his addiction and morally ambiguous nature, the show kept audiences guessing what would happen to him, and when he switched sides, it was one ofPrison Break’s biggest twists.
Mahone’s skills and ability to take down some of the scariest characters inPrison Breakmade him a fan favorite, and though he appeared to be given a happy ending with Felicia in season 4, viewers were in for a surprise in season 5. As thePrison Breakcreator, Paul Scheuring, struggled to find something to do with him, Mahone was notably absent from season 5. Bringing Mahone back for a cameo could connectPrison Break’s past and future, while also doing justice to one of its best characters.
