With so many combat elements and features available inBlack Myth: Wukong, players are spoiled with choices of the varying skills and abilities they can use and hone in battle, such as Spirits. These powerful skills, when cultivated, allow you to momentarily take the form of an enemy or boss you once faced and defeated and use their powers against other opponents you confront.

To use Spirits, go to aShrine andselect’Self Advance > Cultivate Spirits,‘bringing you to a menu of all the Spirits you have collected. Each one costs 1,500 Will and will require more Will, along with ingredients to upgrade them. Once you have cultivated a Spirit, you can then equip it in your Inventory. Players can only have one Spirit equipped but can swap them out whenever they like.

8Wandering Wight

Faithful Kowtow

Using the Wandering Wight Spirit is an excellent option for players who enjoy Heavy Attacks and strong tanky hits, who can deal massive damage. By taking the form of Wandering Wight, you canram into foes with your huge bronze skull, which will likely kill many low-level enemies in one shot, and can be devastating against most bosses.

Wandering Wight is an optional field boss in Chapter 1, who you must defeat to obtain the Spirit, allowing you to cultivate it at a Keeper’s Shrine. Wandering Wight can be found in the Forest of Wolves, near the ‘Outside the Forest’ Keeper’s Shrine.

7Guangmou Spirit

Veiled Vipers

As one of the best Spirits in the game due to its long-lasting effects, the Guangmou Spirit is another option obtained through a boss fight, specifically against Guangmou, a Yaoguai Chief in Chapter 1. Using this Spirit will allow you to mimic Guangmou’s signature move ofsummoning snakes that spit venom toward enemies, inflicting them withPoison inBlack Myth: Wukong.

Poison is a powerful status effect thatdeals quite significant damage over time, even upon bosses. This will allow you to chip away at your enemies’ health bars throughout combat until they perish. While the Poisoned state isn’t permanent and doesn’t last through a full boss fight, it lasts quite a while, and you may still deal direct damage while your snakes do the work until you can summon them again.

Moderately increases Poison Damage and Poison Resistance

With its equipped effect, your improved Poison Damage and Resistance will alsoallow you to survive better, especially when up against particular enemies that deal this damage type, such as Snake Patrollers, Skeletal Snakes, and even the uncanny Poisestone in Chapter 2.

To get and cultivate this Spirit, follow the path from the ‘Snake Trail’ Keeper’s Shrine in Bamboo Grove, bypassing the Lesser Yaoguai until you reach Guangmou’s arena.

6Rat Governor

Tribute

For a versatile Spirit option, Rat Governor is highly powerful, offering a ranged attack, which is rare among attack styles inBlack Myth: Wukong. Acquired by defeating one of these enemies in Chapter 2, Rat Governor allows you to momentarily transform into one of these creatures andleap up with your staff, before shooting lightning to strike your opponent, dealing Thunder Damage.

At the same time, it increases your Thunder Damage itself, providing you with stronger combat abilities that can be used inboss battles inBlack Myth: Wukong.

Not only is this an incredibly strong attack, but theability to use a ranged option can be lifesaving, especially if you are on the cusp of death and would prefer to maintain distance. There are manybosses inBlack Myth: Wukongthat can be better handled at a safer distance, so this is a great option to take for those countermeasures.

5Rat Archer

Mighty Release

Another, perhaps even better, ranged Spirit option is Rat Archer, which alsoallows playersto deal damage from a safe distance. By defeating a Rat Archer in Chapter 2, you will gain the attack that is most frustrating to evade.

Taking the form of a Rat Archer will allow you toload and shoot arrows using a crossbow several times in quick succession. Not only does this deal damage multiple times, but it also stun-locks enemies as it does to The Destined One, preventing any form of retaliation.

This is an extremely strong attack that can turn the tables of any confrontation in your favor, especially in Chapters 2 and 3, whenenemies become harder to face. Similarly to that of Rat Governer, it also increases your Thunder-based damage, an excellent enhancement to make use of.

4Tiger’s Acolyte

Sharp Edge

The Tiger’s Acolyte Spirit is as powerful as it is rapid, allowing you todraw near your target in a flash and hack them with a sword. While it only deals a single instance of damage, it is extremely potent, acting as a critical hit, and can down your opponent with great force.

Since it is a strong Epic Spirit, it can only be obtained by slaying the Tiger’s Acolyte Yaoguai Chief himself, found on the bridge guarding the path to the Stone Vanguardboss in Chapter 2. To reach him, start from the ‘Windrest Hamlet’ Keeper’s Shrine in the Yellow Wind Formation region, and go across the small bridge guarded by a formidable Spearbone holding a Greatshield.

Veer to the left, passing the ruined village, until you come to an archway marking the entrance to the bridge, which automatically becomes a boss arena when you enter.

With your increased Critical Damage, every swipe from your staff to follow after cultivating the spirit will be deadly against enemies andbosses inBlack Myth: Wukong. While this Spirit is only effective for a short time, itsdamage and the buffs to follow are well worth taking advantage of.

3Gore-Eye Daoist

Raging Blood

For those looking for a unique Spirit with lots of utility, the Gore-Eye Daoist Spirit is the best option to cultivate. While it doesn’t provide direct damage, it essentiallyprovides you with a buff-zone that makes your damage stronger. By taking the form of this creature, you may plant a secondary staff down, which is topped with an eye that emits a crimson glow.

By staying and attacking enemies within the glowing area surrounding you, your attacks will be enhanced unless you leave the vicinity. While the staff and its provided buff zone will vanish after a while, it stilllasts for quite some time, so players should make use of it as often as possible.

While this isn’t the best option against enemies that use ranged attacks, most opponents inBlack Myth: Wukongdeal damage close up, so this is one of the best Spirits to cultivate. If you cankeep enemies or bosses close to youby staying near your staff and not moving too much, other than when you need to dodge, you can deal devastating damage, all while your maximum Mana is increased.

This effect will allow you to use your Mysticism and Transformation, as well as Spirit, more often in battle, providing you with lots of utility.

While it is a great Spirit to possess, acquiring it is somewhat tricky, as players must find and fight the Gore-Eye Daoist field boss, who islocked behind the sealed gate in the Valley of Despair in Chapter 2. To access this area, you must first fight the Stone Vanguard in Yellow Wind Formation. Upon doing so, he will drop the Sternness of Stone, an item used to unlock the sealed gate.

2Swift Bat

Wing Flapper

Another unique Spirit that is especially useful in survivability is the Swift Bat spirit, obtained bykilling the Swift Bat that resides in the caves in Chapter 2ofBlack Myth: Wukong. What makes this Spirit special is that it gives The Destined One the advantage of flight.

In its form, players unfurl their wings and rise up in the air before stirring up travel to strike oncoming enemies. Although only for a moment, it will stop most enemies, apart from some possible bosses, from being able to reach you while you’re in the air.

This is an excellent option if you’re low on health and need to create distance between yourself and your opponent. Additionally, theincrease of Stamina Recovery is integral to combat, as Stamina is responsible for both Light and Heavy attacks as well as yourStance inBlack Myth: Wukongand ability to sprint.

If you haven’t leveled up Stamina much within your Foundation skills, it can deplete very quickly in the heat of battle. This will lead to your demise if you can’t escape an enemy, so utilizing any skill that can recover it quickly is crucial.

1Earth Wolf

Wild Rapture

Another strong and tanky Spirit to cultivate for players who like to deal massive damage is the Earth Wolf. This rare Spirit allows you to transform into this large formidable beast and, similarly to the Wandering Wight Spirit, recklessly charge straight into enemies, causing them to stumble.

This is a great solution when fighting enemies or bosses with chunky health bars, as it willtake a large amount of HP off them in one hit, getting you closer to victory. Moreover, with the charging effect causing them to fall, when you transform back, you can continue to hit them while they’re downed, getting more use out of the Spirit’s effects.

Grants a small amount of additional Focus on hit

Additionally,Focus points are your primary method for dealing damage, which are built up through perfect dodges, Light and Heavy attacks. As players then consume them to perform powerful strikes to deal extra damage, building them back up again as soon as possible is important to land more critical hits.

This makes the Earth Wolf spirit even more important due to the additional Focus points gained.Focus takes some time to build back up, and while there are abilities to help you build them faster, this is one of the ways you can do so effectively.

To gain this useful Spirit, you must face and defeat the Earth Wolf boss in Chapter 2. The optional Yaoguai Chief is found in the Yellow Wind Ridge region in Sandgate Village.

From the ‘Village Entrance’ Keeper’s Shrine, you will have totake the long way around the village due to the locked door, where you can face him in an open arena. This will allow you to open the locked gate from the other side, taking you back to the Shrine.
