Summary

The First Descendantis a game that is enjoyed by tens of thousands of players each day, and a community of that size has plenty of feedback. Luckily, Nexon, the game’s developer, listens to that community feedback. This is shown by their most recent hotfix, 1.0.7, which was released on June 19, 2025.

Rather than addingnew content like Descendantsor weapons, 1.0.7 focuses on improving some of the game’s systems. Changes have been made tomultiplayer, equipment, and the UI. These changes, in addition to several bug fixes, may have frustrated some players.

The First Descendant’s First Major Boss Has A Big Problem

The First Descendant tries to build up its first major boss as intimidating, but their name and the mechanics of the fight itself are a let down.

Major Multiplayer Issues Have Been Addressed

Players Away From Keyboard Don’t Get Rewards Anymore

The First Descendantis a game that is centered around farming gear and materials with small drop chances, and while this adds replayability, it also has the unfortunate side effect of encouraging some toxic behavior in multiplayer matches. The most obvious issue that players will run into on a regular basis is playersjoining a mission and immediately going AFK, leaving the rest of the players to pick up the slack while still reaping the rewards. Luckily, 1.0.7 addresses this issue, at least for special operations.

Now, when players go AFK on The First Descendant’s special operations, they will automatically abort the mission at the interim reward screen.

When players reach an interim round during a special operation, they receive additional rewards and have the option to continue the mission or abort it. This option is on a 30-second timer, and if all players choose to continue, the time is shortened to 5 seconds. AFK players then cause additional frustration by forcing other players to wait longer to start the next round. Now, when players go AFK onThe First Descendant’sspecial operations, they willautomatically abort the missionat the interim reward screen.

Another improvement has been made to the process of restarting a public mission. Previously, players were only able to restart the mission, which would add them to the main matchmaking queue, which might be unfortunate if the player has found a squad they work well with. Luckily, 1.0.7 has added an option torestart a mission with the current squad, giving the player the choice to keep their current efficient squad or rejoin the main queue if they would like a different one.

Some Materials Are Now Easier To Acquire

Rebalanced Boss Rewards And Material Bugs Fixed

The August 17, 2025, patch forThe First Descendantadded a host of new content, including a new Descendant, an ultimate Descendant, an ultimate weapon, and a new void intercept battle. The new void intercept battle was also tied to the new Descendant, as Luna could previously only acquire her Noise Surge module by defeating Gluttony. Unfortunately, due to the difficulty of this boss, many players had difficulty finding a squad that could handle it, making the module even harder to grind. With 1.0.7, however,Noise Surge can now be acquired as a reward for defeating Executionerin hard mode.

The First Descendant: How To Get All Reactors (Skill Type, Tiers & Elements)

To get Reactors in The First Descendant, players must participate in missions and Void Intercept Battles, and enhance them to a higher level.

Other materials are now easier to obtain due to bug fixes. TheBalanced Plasma Battery, for example, was difficult to acquire due to a bug in Fortress infiltration missions, and this bug has now been addressed. Now, each run should spawn a champion mob, which can drop the valuable resource.

UI Changes Make It Even Easier To Find The Information You Need

Color Matching Rarity And Easier Gear Dismantle

While the multiplayer and resource changes are great, the UI changes will likely be more immediately obvious and beneficial for players. One change that will be immediately noticeable is theaddition of small circles to the equipment icons. These circles denote the quality of the additional effects attached to each weapon, reactor, or external component. These colors match the rarity system of gear, so a weapon with four ultimate effects will show four yellow circles.

Changes have also been made to modules. Now,whether a module can be obtained by combiningother modules will be shown on the Module Acquisition info tab, allowing the player to decide whether combining their modules is worth it to get a more desirable one without searching for the information online. Module filtering has also been made easier for consoles, which previously experienced an issue where auto-suggestions would filter out incorrect modules.

This is an update to the junk filter settings, adding options to include or exclude items with certain additional effects like Max MP increases.

Another minor change is the increased tooltip speed when hovering over items in the inventory. Onefinal UI change has not been implemented yet, though Nexon has revealed its plans to do so going forward. This is an update to the junk filter settings, adding options to include or exclude items with certain additional effects like Max MP increases. Once this change is made, it will be easier to dismantle the dozens of items with effects you do not want and cannot currently change.

A New Challenger Approaches

Hints To A New Descendant Available Soon

While not added to hotfix 1.0.7, Nexon added ateaser for their new Descendanton their patch notes. A caption under the character’s silhouette on theNexonwebsite reads, “The new Descendant is armed with cold fury and ready to strike.” This seems to hint at the new Descendant focusing on cold damage like Viessa. Her playstyle will also likely focus on DPS.

The First Descendant: Differences Between Normal & Ultimate Descendants

Characters come in Normal and Ultimate forms in The First Descendant, but it can be hard to tell what subtle differences make them truly unique.

There are also details to be gleaned from the new Descendant’s silhouette. The first is a massive sniper rifle, which seems to be taller than its wielder. This could hint at a sharpshooter-focused playstyle or the character having a unique weapon. The new Descendant islikely to be Hailey, who was identified previously through data mining. If so,The First Descendantcould see the rise of a character who has skills that are more focused on sniping enemies than dealing with them up close and personal.
