The newest reveal ofPokémon TCG: Surging Sparkscards contains some fun ones, and an Illustration Rare for Alolan Dugtrio could be an especially memorable addition. Set to release on November 8, the Surging Sparks expansion will be the latest in theScarlet & Violetlineup. Themed around the diverse environment of the Terarium fromThe Hidden Treasure of Area ZeroPart 2:The Indigo DiskDLC, the cards should cover a lot of ground.
VGCrevealed an official first look at four cards fromSurging Sparksfocused on the Diglett evolutionary line. The selection consists of a new Alolan Diglett, Alolan Dugtrio, an Alolan Dugtrio Illustration Rare, and a Surfer Trainer card.

Each of the cards appropriately features a tropical environment, with artwork of Diglett and Dugtrio that shows them in front of blue ocean waters or palm trees. The Surfer card depicts a winking surfer with his board clutched under an arm, ready to tackle any swells.
Alolan Dugtrio’s Artwork Couldn’t Be Funnier
The Supermodels Of Alola
Alolan Dugtrio is one of the funniest Pokémon designs to begin with, and bothnewPokémon TCG: Surging Sparkscardsdeliver in spades on the inherent humor. The standard version shows them with hair blowing lusciously in the wind and eyes rapturously closed aside from one wink. Although the Illustration Rare goes for less dramatic effect, the larger expanse of artwork is glorious to behold, with an idyllic scene capturing the quiet stillness of a Dugtrio at peace.
Our Take: One Of The Best Cards From Surging Sparks?
Alolan Dugtrio Is A Real Winner
As far as fun artwork goes, getting an Alolan Dugtrio Illustration Rare could be aprize for anyPokémon TCG: Surging Sparkscollection, and the standard version isn’t far behind. In terms of play, the Trio-Cheehoo attack is also charmingly thematic, requiring exactly 3 cards in the player’s hand for anything to happen at all. Playing to meet that requirement could be fun, and it rewards smart strategy much better than the Alolan Diglett’s Surprise Attack, which literally uses a coin flip.
