Summary
An extremely talented cosplayer has brought Ganondorf, the main antagonist ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomand theLegend of Zeldaseries in general, to life with impressive detail. Ganondorf is a powerful Gerudo warlock - who is also known as “the Evil King” or “King of the Gerudo” - who has long opposed Link and Princess Zelda in both his more human form, and his more animalistic, boar-like form known as Ganon. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildintroduced full voice acting to the franchise, but while that game featured Ganon, the arrival of the Ganondorf form inTears of the KingdomsawMatthew Mercer delivering a chilling performanceas the foe.
Redditorjeanslagoonshared several images of their incredibly detailed Ganondorf cosplay to the r/Zelda subreddit after donning it at the recent Anime Expo event held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The cosplay featured an incredibly detailed outfit consisting of Ganondorf’s robes, Sayas for his swords, and what appears to be full-body makeup, which must have taken an impressive amount of time to apply on the day to portray the character’s green skin.

They stated they “had so much fun seeing everyone’s reaction,” and after such a clearly positive response, they have expressed interest in cosplaying as the iconic villain again in the future.

Ganondorf has had several makeovers in The Legend of Zelda series. Although every iteration has its merits, some are more memorable than others.
Zelda Fans Have Been Quick To Praise The Ganondorf Cosplay
With High Praise To The Cosplayer For Nailing The Character’s Attitude As Well
The positive sentiment was clearly shared by theLegend of Zeldafans on the subreddit as well.BaulsJ0hns0n86remarked that the cosplay was “spectacular"before jokingly asking jeanslagoon to do “the dance,” referencing the “Lore Accurate Ganondorf” meme inspired by animatorTerminalmontage’s video in which Ganondorf dances to Swavemente. This is something jeanslagoon said they had actually done at the Anime Expo, but sadly, the person who filmed it has yet to send it over. Considering how impressive the cosplay is, it would certainly be fun to see.
Meanwhile,jello_isherecomplimented jeanslagoon on nailing Ganondorf’s “evil” aura in the images. As impressive as a costume and makeup can be, it is often the cosplayers themselves who can add that extra element that really brings a character to life through their portrayal of their attitude and personality, and jeanslagoon certainly managed to capture that here.

While this may have been jeanslagoon’s first time cosplaying asThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomGanondorf, a look through their past Reddit posts shows that they have brought many other characters to life over the years through their equally detailed cosplays. These includeKingdom Hearts' Xemnas,Saint Seiya’s Aquarius Camus, and more, with the latter post stating that more could be found on their Instagram profile:starwindcosplay.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the anticipated follow-up to Breath of the Wild, released in 2017.
