Ark: Survival Ascendedfans should prepare for a chilly adventure asStudio Wildcard unveilsLost Colony, the game’s first original expansion.Survival Ascendedhas existed in an odd space since it was released as the community has long felt that the final product didn’t live up to what was originally promised. While the upgraded version ofArk: Survival Evolvedhas made some interesting changes to the game, many feel Studio Wildcard has yet to justify it as a separate product rather than a free revamp of the original.
Over onYouTube, it seems that the developer is trying to finally separateAscendedfromEvolvedwithLost Colony, an expansion unveiled with a flashy anime trailer. While every other official DLC is an upgraded version of theArk: Survival Evolvedrelease,Lost Colonytells a new story that sets the stage forArk 2. Details on the project are still scarce but players can expect it to arrive in November 2025 and it will retail for $29.99 USD; Pre-orders will open in June for fans wanting to prepare for the next step in theArksaga.

What Do We Know About Lost Colony?
Returning Characters And New Environments
Studio Wildcard has yet to release any gameplay footage ofLost Colonybut has teased thatthe expansion will see players adventuring to Arat Prime, the birthplace of the Arks. The icy biome is home to all manner of new creatures and enemies as the existing factions battle over control of the city to"undo what was accomplished at the end of ARK Extinction." The DLC will sport “numerous cinema-grade” animecutscenes by studio MAPPAand will star recognizable characters and voice actors, including Michelle Yeoh reprising her role asMei Yin fromArk: The Animated Series.
The story will bridge the gap betweenArk: ExtinctionandArk: Genesiswhile also laying thegroundwork forArk 2. Studio Wildcard teases that players will spend their time following Mei Yin’s journey through Arat Prime, unlocking new “Lost” ability trees and crafting “Cursed” items. Aside from the new tames adapted for the snowy environment, fans can also anticipate an “advanced new building system” that should help turn the wilds into a home.

Lost Colony Wins On Presentation
Hopefully The Gameplay Satisfies Fans
As much as I don’t particularly care forArk: Survival Ascended, I think it’s interesting to see Studio Wildcard’s approach to storytelling. It’s difficult to weave a compelling narrative in a sandbox survival game but givenArk’s scale and the amount of talent working on the narrative,it seems that the developer is focused on providing a satisfying story. We’ll just have to see if it all comes together whenLost Colonyarrives in November.
