After you finish the prerequisite quest"From Spark to Flame,“you can start"Smuggler’s Run"from your Dojo’s Objective Board. However,you need to have at least one active Scout to start the questas well. This is tied to how your character cannot smuggle resources themselves and instead has to rely on allies to transport many goods.

How To Smuggle Resources
Mark Wealthy Stockpiles Of Valuable Materials
To start smuggling various resources, you have tofind areas on the map with a high Wealth status. From my experience, these include areas like castles and camps, not villages or towns where the people only have a few valuable items between them. For example, you’re more likely to find materials worth smuggling from somewhere like Osaka or Katano Castles than anywhere else.
Once you find a place with wealthy goods, you can travel there and sneak around unseen. While you explore a high Wealth location,use the"Observe"feature to see icons of enemies and loot you can smuggle. The stockpiles of resources you need to smuggle will be depicted by a barrel symbol, usually inside a storage area or some locked part of an area.
One of theeasiest ways to navigateAC Shadowsfor this mission is with the character Naoe instead of Yasuke. Naoe’s skills are more geared toward stealth, which will help you smuggle resources without attracting unwanted attention.
When you come across a large collection of resources, an option will come up asking you to"Smuggle Resources.“Next to that prompt, you’ll see how many Scouts it will take to transport the materials once you mark them.You can mark materials you find in wealthy areas for your Scouts to pick up lateras you loot the rest of a location for other items you can carry on your own.
Tagging a stockpile of resources will see yourScouts gather and deliver them to your Hideout at the end of the current season. One of thebiggest changes from past gamesis how dynamic seasons come and go, giving you a good timeframe for when your Scouts will add smuggled goods you marked to your Dojo.

The hardest step of smuggling any resources is successfully getting past enemies into the most secure locations of wealthy areas. It may take some trial and error, but after you complete the"Smuggler’s Run"quest inAssassin’s Creed Shadows, future smuggling operations should be easier as you recruit more Scouts.
