Back in March, full-time cosplayerElenya Frostshowed off her Ahsoka cosplay with another cosplayer named Patrick (dark_vienna_cosplay). The two are engaged in combat to mimic the epic fight between Ahsoka and Maul excellently. Frost dubs herself a lekku maker, and it shows.Ahsoka’s headpiece is perhaps the most challenging part of Ahsoka’s look; even experts can struggle with it,yet her headdress is a masterwork.
This cosplay between the two of them demonstrates how revered this fight still is amongstStar Warsviewers. The two do a great job in their shoot, demonstrating how close Ahsoka and Maul got to each other during the fight. Afterward, Ahsoka ignites her saber, and Maul responds, “I see the Padawan needs one last lesson.” The two begin to exchange blows, each taking aggressive strikes, with Maul even elbowing Ahsoka in the face.
Despite this, Ahsoka recovers, eventually gains the upper hand, and bests Maul, leading to his capture.This duel has all the elements of a greatStar Warsfight: tension, real stakes, physicality, an exchange of words/quips, and outstanding music. For these reasons and more, Lucasfilm ought to look to this lightsaber fight for inspiration in future choreography. The motion capture by Kim and Park shows that sometimes live-action duels can be limited in what they can accomplish.
