The newCobra Kaiteases how it all will end. The popular Netflix series, which was picked up by the streamer after its first two seasons aired on YouTube Red and then YouTube Premium, is a sequel to theKarate Kidfranchise, following the continued rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). The upcomingCobra Kaiseason 6 part 3, which consists of five episodes, will conclude the 15-episode season and mark the end of the series as a whole.
Netflixhas nowshared the full official trailer forCobra Kaiseason 6 part 3. It starts with voiceover narration from Daniel, seemingly addressing Johnny and saying that “in the beginning we were enemies” over footage from the originalKarate Kidmovies and previousCobra Kaiseasons that emphasizes just how long this rivalry has lasted. However, Johnny cuts in, saying that “I guess it was inevitable we’d end up on the same side.”
The trailer continues, utilizing both old and new footage to highlight the history of the franchise as the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai dojos prepare to face their enemies at the Sekai Taikai tournament. The voiceover continues, teasing that they will have to fight as one, but in order to do so,they will need to go back to the beginning. See the video below:

The Final Episodes Blend The Past And The Future
Nearly every element of the new trailer isdesigned to emphasize the theme of returning to where it all began. This includes comparing stock footage of the originalKarate Kidmoviesto new footage of the same characters, all grown up. Other callbacks to the original franchise include a solemn visit to the grave of Daniel’s former mentor Mr. Miyagi and the use of the Joe Esposito song “You’re the Best,” which played during the All-Valley Karate Championships montage in the original 1984 movie.
“You’re the Best” was originally written for 1982’sRocky IIIbut was replaced with the iconic Survivor song “Eye of the Tiger.”
This is a natural inclination, considering how the series is coming to an end after more than half a decade and the fact thatit has long engaged with the legacy of the franchise as a whole. Beyond Daniel and Johnny, theCobra Kaicasthas featured many legacy characters including John Kreese (Martin Kove), Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto), Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), and more.

AlthoughCobra Kaiis ending, the franchise is already set to continue with theupcomingKarate Kid: Legends, a movie that teams Daniel LaRusso with the 2010 reboot’s Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) for the first time. However, there have so far been no other characters from the show confirmed to appear in the movie, which takes place on the East Coast rather than the West. Thus,the end of the show is still very much the end of an erathat is deserving of this nostalgic treatment.
