Deadpool’s plan for taking down Wolverine has multiple stages, beginning with Deadpool staging a secret attack on the X-Man in a hotel elevator with a “nano-neutralizer mist.” This putsWolverine’s mutant healing factoron the fritz, which allows Deadpool to take full advantage later on. When the two are left alone, Deadpool shows his hand andshoots Wolverine in the eye with an adamantium-jacketed bullet, explaining that“it’s the only kind of shell that stands a chance against your skull,”adding that the bullet is likely pushing into Logan’s brain.
One blast from the “encephaloray” bullet is enough to put Wolverine in a coma, so that Deadpool can deliver the mutant to his mysterious benefactor, revealed at issue’s end to be the former leader of Hydra, Baron Von Strucker.

Further, Deadpool’s plan doesn’t end there, as Wolverine still proves to be a formidable opponent. That’s when the Merc with a Mouth reveals that the bullet has an “encephaloray core” that can be triggered by remote, allowing Deadpool to zap Logan’s entire body whenever he chooses. One blast from the “encephaloray” bullet is enough to put Wolverine in a coma, so that Deadpool can deliver the mutant to his mysterious benefactor, revealed at issue’s end to be the former leader of Hydra,Baron Von Strucker.
