Summary
I thinkDeadpool & Wolverineoffers theMarvel Cinematic Universethe perfect lesson to fix my main problem withMoon Knightin a possible season 2 of the series.Deadpool & Wolverineis one of the most successful superhero movies in history, being universally beloved and recently becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. That is quite the mark to reach, withDeadpool & Wolverinealso being the MCU’s first R-rated film. Given its success,Deadpool & Wolverine’s endingcould lead to sequels, and the movie might also influence other MCU projects.
One of the projectsI hopeDeadpool & Wolverine’s success can affect is Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight series. Since the show’s premiere in 2022, there have been very fewupdates onMoon Knightseason 2. However, a recent announcement has made me more hopeful that Marvel has not forgotten the hero.Moon Knight will appear in What If…? season 3, and I believe that if his appearance in the animated series is loved, Marvel could go back to developingMoon Knightseason 2. That said, there has to be a major change.

I’m Now Convinced Moon Knight Season 2 Is More Likely To Happen After MCU Future Confirmation
Moon Knight’s MCU return has been confirmed after two years of silence, and that has me convinced the project could lead to Moon Knight season 2.
I Was Disappointed By Moon Knight’s Action
The Show Promised To Deliver Brutal Action
Before the show was released,Disney+‘sMoon Knightwas propped up to be darker and more violent than the usual MCU fare. That had me excited about the series, as I think the character works in the comics because of his darkness.Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige even made bigMoon Knightpromises. The executive claimed that the series would mark a tonal shift from what the MCU usually did, saying, “He’s brutal… This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.” Sadly, I do not think Moon Knight lived up to that.
The series cut to the Jake Lockley alter of the character to do all the killing and returned to Steven Grant or Marc Spector when the fight was over, which was a major issue of the finale

I enjoyed the series and want to see it return, butthe show never went as dark as Netflix’s The Defenders Sagadid, and based on Feige’s comments, I was expecting something more in that direction.Moon Knighthad some cool and violent fight scenes, but when the show could go all in on those brutal moments, Marvel used an awful plot device. The series cut to the Jake Lockley alter of the character to do all the killing and returned to Steven Grant or Marc Spector when the fight was over, which was a major issue of the finale.
10 MCU Mysteries Moon Knight Season 2 Can Solve If It Happens
Moon Knight’s Blu-ray release has caused speculation that Marvel Studios may be developing a second season, which could solve several MCU mysteries.
I’m Excited For More R-Rated MCU Projects After Deadpool & Wolverine
The Movie Can Inspire More Mature MCU Projects
Moon Knight’s rating ended up limiting how much Marvel could do with the show. That is why projects like Disney’sEcho, Marvel Studios’ first TV-MA series, andDeadpool & Wolverine, the MCU’s first R-rated movie, have me excited aboutMoon Knightseason 2. In 2022, Marvel had no parameter to see if makingMoon KnightTV-MA would sit well with audiences, MCU-wise. However, it now has, withthe studio’s first R-rated movie already becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, beating DC’sJokerfor the crown.
Echowas also received decently, and I think that series' issues could have been made better with more episodes to properly flesh out its story and characters.Moon Knightseason 2 being TV-MA — with more than 6 episodes — could lead to the ideal version of Oscar Isaac’s Marvel character making it to the big screen. Speaking toThe Hollywood Reporter,Kevin Feige teased that there could be more R-rated projects in the MCUif the rating is appropriate for the character and fits the DNA of the hero or villain in question.

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine is packed to the brim with cameos from across the entire run of Marvel films, combining the numerous timelines together.
A TV-MA Moon Knight Season 2 Would Be Perfect
It Would Fit The Direction The Marvel Series Is Headed In
IfMoon Knightseason 2 ends up happening, then season 1’s ending has already set up a change perfectly to TV-MA.The season ended with Jake Lockley finally appearingand killing Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow in cold blood. The character was doing so on Khonshu’s orders, something Marc Spector and Steven Grant are not aware of. Seeing howMoon Knightseason 1 made it a point to show that Jake was the most violent of the character’s alters, season 2 focusing more on him should be quite bloody.
I would love to see Oscar Isaac in this darker version of the show. The actor is one of Hollywood’s best right now, and having him portray three very different versions of the same character with more leeway to delve into mature elements would be fantastic.Moon Knightseason 2 could not only be more violent than season 1 but also more tragic, doing a deep dive into what makes all three alters tick. I think that could be one of Marvel’s best shows, and so I hopeDeadpool & Wolverine’s success leads to a TV-MAMoon Knightseason 2.

Moon Knight

He shares a body with Marc Spector and together, they travel to Egypt to uncover a deadly mystery surrounding the gods.Moon Knightconsisted of six episodes and was the fifth live-action TV show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4.
