My Hero Academia’sstory focuses heavily on the U.A. High students, but fans often wonder about these aspiring heroes' families. The conversation between Inko and All Might in season three, episode 12, “End of the Beginning, Beginning of the End,” was controversial because of Inko’s initial refusal. Not only did she not give Deku permission to move into U.A.’s new dorms, shealso threatened to pull him from U.A. High completelybecause of the injuries Deku sustained protecting Kota from the villain, Muscular, at training camp, and rescuing Bakugo from the League of Villains and All For One. My Hero Academia Is Actually Much More Personal Than Fans Think, & Two Moments Prove It

Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, has revealed the moments he drew inspiration from to write a few pivotal scenes for the story.

Inko told All Might that Deku’s safety is her top priority, and she feared sending him back to U.A. would mean sending him to his imminent death. She blamed herself for allowing him to attend in the first place, taking personal responsibility for Deku’s injuries. The tears she shed and the heartfelt words she uttered to All Mightproved her deep care for her only child.Once All Might carefully explained to Inko that he would look after Deku and protect him with his life, begging on his knees for the chance to mold Deku into his successor, Inko’s mind changed.

Bakugo, Todoroki, Midoriya, Uraraka, and Kirishima sit on the grass and relax happily.

Inko Put Aside Her Own Fears for Deku’s Benefit, Showing Her Selflessness

Although It Caused Her Worry and Stress, Inko Made the Best Choice for Deku’s Success, Safety, and Happiness

Like any parent, Inko wants to shield her child from dangerous situations, especially ones that would threaten his life. However, she also began to see Deku and All Might’s perspective on the matter once they spoke with her. Deku showed his mother the letter Kota sent after Deku saved him from Muscular, and All Might explained that he saw great potential in Deku and felt he was the only correct choice to be the future Symbol of Peace. Inko was still worried, butshe ultimately allowed Deku to go, telling All Might all she really wanted was for Deku “to be happy.”

Inko’s shift in mindset and willingness to let Deku leave her, even though it caused her immense stress, further reveals how excellent of a mother she is. In this instance, she put her personal feelings aside and allowed Deku to take the path that would give him the most success and fulfillment of his goals, while still sternly warning All Might that he needed to safeguard Deku from harm as much as possible. This levelheaded and balanced decision allowed Deku to moveintothe U.A. Highdorms, continue to thrive in the hero program, and go on to save countless lives.
