What This Teaser Means For Dexter: Original Sin
Old And New Elements Combine In The Dexter Prequel
The new teaser does not offer too much insight into the new characters who have never been seen before in the franchise, includingSarah Michelle Gellar’s Tanya. However, the monologue implies that every single one of the characters that Dexter meets in the CSI department isinstrumental in his development as a serial killer. This may be unintentional on the part of Tanya and Captain Spencer, but that monologue combined with them being featured front and center in the teaser likely means that he will be working closely with them, even as an intern.
Other returning characters inDexter: Original Sinare Molly Brown’s Debra Morgan, originally played by Jennifer Carpenter, Christina Milian’s María LaGuerta, originally played by Lauren Vélez, and Alex Shimizu’s Vince Masuka, originally played by C. S. Lee.

The other major impression that the teaser gives is that, despite the show’s placement in theDextertimeline, Michael C. Hall will still play a major role in the goings-on. This is in keeping with many modern prequel spinoffs, including theSupernaturalprequelThe Winchesters, which was narrated by Jensen Ackles, and theBig Bang TheoryspinoffYoung Sheldon, which was narrated by Jim Parsons. It remains to be seen if Hall ever makes an onscreen appearance like Parsons' cameo in theYoung Sheldonfinale, but it seems thathis narration will continue to be integral to the show.
Our Take On The Dexter: Original Sin Teaser
Dexter Is Coming Into His Own As A Killer
What the monologue implies is that the version of the title character seen at the beginning ofDexter: Original Sinis much more of a blank slate than the version seen in the premiere of the original show. While his development as a killer was explored in that show, the prequel seems set to go into his transformation in much greater detail. This will almost certainly involve much blood and mayhem, whichcould promise an exciting return to form for the franchise.
