Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas just announced its upcoming new expansion pass,The Storybook Vale. The brand-new paid installment will be the second expansion pass for the hit game following the success of theA Rift In Timeexpansion, which was released forDisney Dreamlight Valleyin December 2024. Developer Gameloft recently revealed the upcoming expansion pass in a live stream showcase, detailing all thenew and game-changing featuresit has in store forDisney Dreamlight Valley.
Gameloft’s live stream showcase exhibited a reflection on the success ofDisney Dreamlight Valleyso far, with the developers explaining that many of the game’s future gameplay decisions are community driven. In addition toThe Storybook Valeexpansion pass, a new free content update called Sew Delightful was announced for release on June 26, 2025, as well as three more free content updates to arrive to the valley in 2025. However, in the meantime, players of the game haveThe Storybook Valeto look forward to, and it’s just about to launch forDisney Dreamlight Valley- just in time for the holidays.
When Storybook Vale Releases In Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Storybook Valewill be released inDisney Dreamlight Valleyon June 23, 2025.The expansion pass will be released in two installments, as Part One and Part Two. The developer’s decision to release the expansion pass as two separate installments is based on the idea that each installment ofThe Storybook Valewill feature a larger amount of new content, with a shorter waiting period for players to be able to continue the game’s storyline. It’s also been announced that purchasing Part One ofThe Storybook Valewill automatically give players access to Part Two, meaning there will be no need to spend more money on the pass.
The Storybook Valeboasts a beautiful fairytale landscape, with brand-new Disney characters, villains, biomes, critters, and more. The primary goal in the game’s storyline is for players to restore peace to the land by collecting all the missing pages of an ancient magical book called the Lorekeeper.The pages of the Lorekeeper take on the appearance of adorable little origami creatures called Snippets, who float around the new world. Upon receiving a new tool, an enchanted staff, players will be able to catch and collect the snippets just like one would catch a critter with a net.
What New Characters & Villains Are In The Expansion Pass
New Additions From Sleeping Beauty & Hercules
The Storybook Vale’s main story is based around the main antagonists in the expansion pass: Maleficent fromSleeping Beautyand Hades fromHercules.The two Disney villains have torn the magical land inThe Storybook Valeapart, and it’s up to players to restore it. The introduction of Maleficent will introduceSleeping Beautyitems to the valley, and Hades will bring some eagerly awaitedHercules-inspired items. There will also be two new characters to befriend in the game, including Merida from Pixar’sBraveand Flynn Rider fromTangled. Flynn Rider will offer an exciting opportunity for players to reunite him with Rapunzel, while Merida will introduceBrave-themed items for the first time to the valley.
Both Merida and Flynn Rider will come with their own unique houses for players to place the characters in their valleys upon befriending them. It has been revealed thatthere is one more hidden character to unlock inThe Storybook ValePart One, with all of the signs in the trailer hinting at Aurora from Disney’sSleeping Beauty, which will hopefully unlock lots ofSleeping Beautyreward items and content. With five characters available inThe Storybook ValePart One,Disney Dreamlight Valleyplayers will be able to look forward to the introduction of two additional characters in Part Two, whom are yet to be confirmed.

New Biomes, Items, & Recipes
In addition to the exciting selection of brand-new Disney characters and villains introduced withThe Storybook Valeexpansion pass, there are also a variety of exciting new gameplay features for players to look forward to.The Storybook Valecontains three new biomes: The Bind, Ever After, and Mythopia. In The Bind, players will find a cozy,autumnal-themed world. In Ever After awaits a fairytale land that is inspired by Scottish and Scandavian folklore, with beautiful glowing flora and giant mushrooms adorning its landscape. Mythopia, the third biome, will excite fans of Greek and Roman mythology with its Romanesque landscape heavily inspired by Disney’sHercules.
Within the three biomes inThe Storybook Valelie new critters, one in each biome, forDDVplayers to collect and befriend. In The Bind, players can expect to find owls, Ever After contains magical mini dragons, and there will be baby winged horses in Mythopia. Each of the new biomes also boasts brand-new forage including green beans, ambrosia, poppies, buried lightning strikes, porcini mushrooms and more, which meansthere will be new recipes for players to concoct. There will also be new fish to collect, including wolffish and koi, and it’s clear from the trailer that there will be a host of new foliage, including autumn trees and bioluminescent moss, for players to decorate with.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s new Jungle Update not only adds fresh content, but makes plenty of changes to enhance the experience for players.
Releasing in November,The Storybook Valeexpansion pass will be launched beforeDisney Dreamlight Valley’s final free content update of the year, the Sew Delightful update, which launches in December.The next star path in the game will not be available with the launch ofThe Storybook Vale, but it will be available upon the release of Sew Delightful, and it will feature a Frost & Fairies theme, complementing the fairytale inspiration behindThe Storybook Vale. Between the two releases, players will be rewarded with an abundance of brand-new content, cosmetic items and characters before the end of 2024.
