Shinis one ofDragon Ball’s most mysterious characters, despite being given plenty of screen time since his initial introduction to the story.Dragon Ball Daima, however, has promised to shed more light on the Supreme Kai’s many mysterious qualities by placing him in a major role, highlighted by his unexpected role as Goku’s partner during his Demon Realm adventure.

Dragon Ball Daimaseemsextremely willing to meddle with series lore, already rewriting the history of Namekians and attempting toexplain the franchise’s Potara plot hole. Given Shin’s already less-than-fleshed-out character, it was all but certain the series would explore the lesser-known aspects of the once-feared Supreme Kai. And if recent episodes are anything to go on, it seemsDaimaisn’t intending to stop at just a name-change.

Dragon Ball Daima Reveals Shin’s True Name

The Mysterious Kai’s Real Name Is Nahare

InDragon Ball Daimaepisode #7, titled, “Collar”, it was revealed that the Kai has abirth name previously unknown to the rest of the cast: Nahare. From the very moment Shin stepped intoDragon Ball’s story,he was surrounded by an air of mystery. Set to fight Piccolo during the World Tournament that kicked offDragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu Saga, the powerful Namekian refused to fight after understanding a superior god was standing in front of him, before Shin revealed his true identity. Unfortunately, however, following that series' build-up of the Supreme Kai’s character, he was kept largely out of the fighting and ultimately assigned the role of side character.

Dragon Ball Daima Clears Up a Big Question About Goku Black’s Origins

The introduction of the Glind race in Dragon Ball Daima might explain the origins of Goku Black’s hatred for mortals.

Already,Dragon Ball Daimais intent ondoing more with Shin’s characterthan any other series the Kai has featured in. Establishing him as a member of a demon race called Glind, which originated from the Second Demon World,Shin reveals to Panzy that his true name is NahareinDaima’s latest episode. The name change comes a bit out of nowhere, and though Goku gives calling Shin by his real name a shot, he decides to stick with using the name he already knows. GivenDragon Ball’s long, established history, it’s assumed that fans will do the same.

Shin’s Real Name Isn’t the Only Revelation About His Character

Daima Is Revealing Many Unknown Qualities About Shin

While having a different name is certainly an unexpected development for Shin,it isn’t the only one thatDaimahas incorporated into its story thus far. The Glind reveal in previous episodes was entirely new for the character, and the series even took the time to explain how he and other Glind are born,as well as mention their home planet. Every few centuries, characters that become Kais are born from one of five Glind Trees located in the Second Demon World, and those born from the same tree are siblings.

Origins aside,Dragon Ball Daimahas also awarded Shinthe rare opportunity to fight in the series' seventh episode, as he, Goku, and Glorio must do battle with the evil King Gomah’s henchmen. Despite just how scared Piccolo was when matched up against him duringDragon Ball Z, the Supreme Kai’s combat abilities were left largely to the viewers' imaginations.Dragon Ball Daima’s grand adventure has only just begun, however, and fans are likely to learn even more about Supreme Kai Nahare in future episodes.
