Like Augments and Boss Medallions from previous seasons,FortniteChapter 6 Season 1 introduced Boons, a new loot item that allows you tounlock up to four powerful elemental abilities. Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1: Hunters landed with a Japanese theme that introduced new locations and mechanics based on Japanese history and mythology across the island. Several of these items, including Sprites, Elemental Chests, and Oni Masks, take inspiration from elements.

Boons are element-inspired, unlike Sprites andOni Masks inFortnite: Hunters;these stone slabs don’t take up an inventory slot and function more like passive abilities in an RPG. Each Boongrants you a unique, powerful perkthat can help you gain an advantage during a match and possibly clinch a Victory Royale. Here’s how to get every Boon currently available inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1 and what each one does.

Unlock Powerful Buffs

At the time of writing, there are four Boons available inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1. A breakdown of each one appears below:

These Boons are stone slabs with one of four symbols denoting its element in the center. Boons do not take up an item slot like weapons or healing items when collected.

Collecting one of each unique Boon in aFortnitematch is possible, but you cannot pick up and stack duplicates. Boons also are not dropped upon getting downed while in a squad.

Once a Boon has been picked up, the buff will take effect. There is no need to do anything extra to activate a Boon once the item has been picked up. For example, once you pick up a Water Boon and enter a lake or river on the map while missing Health or Shields, they will instantly begin to heal passively without having to do anything else to get the effect.

Where To Find Each Boon

There are a few different ways to get Boons inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1. The first, and arguably easiest, is to find and open Elemental Chests around the island. Elemental Chests can be found at nearly every POI on the map. In addition to dropping one of four Boons, Elemental Chests can drop Oni Masks or Typhoon Blades, making them worth opening whenever you come across them. The Boons that drop from Elemental Chests are always randomized, so it will be more difficult to collect all four using this method.

The Mythic Vault is a veritable treasure trove in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1, containing multiple chests and a unique item. Here’s how to find it.

The second way to collect a Boon is byreturning a Sprite to a Sprite Shrine. you may pick up Air and Wind Sprites around the map and return them to any non-activated shrines during a match. Doing so typically drops an Epic or Legendary rarity weapon and aWater or Wind Boon.

Returning a Water Sprite to a Shrine grants a Water Boon, and returning an Air Sprite to a Shrine grants a Wind Boon.

The final way to pick up any availableFortniteBoons is the most difficult. You can earn the two rarer Boons by defeating one ofChapter 6 Season 1’s two NPC bosses, Shogun X or Night Rose.Shogun X drops a Fire Boon, whetherdefeated on the island or in his boss arena, andNight Rose drops a Void Boon. This is the only way to guarantee you can get a Fire Boon or Void Boon during a match inFortnite.
