Futuramaseason 12 is finally here, and here is every episode of the season, ranked. Hulu’sFuturamarevival was the source of joy for many fans of the beloved animated sci-fi sitcom, with the streaming service announcing that it would bring the show back for another two seasons. The first of these,Futuramaseason 11, was already a major hit with fans, and now Hulu has released every installment ofFuturamaseason 12. Season 12 offered a variety of new episodes, and here is all of them from worst to best.
Futuramaseason 12 featured some wacky episodes, with thePlanet Express crewgoing on adventures that involve NFT heists, buggalo fighting, evil chatbots, and a planet made entirely out of books. The series is still attempting to find its footing after the success of its first revival season, with season 12 using its episodes to catch up on many of the current events that took place sinceFuturamalast went off the air in 2013. Now that season 12 has wrapped up, it is the perfect time to look back on the season as a whole.

10Futurama Season 12, Episode 1, “The One Amigo”
Released On July 01, 2025
Unfortunately, the worst episode inFuturamaseason 12 is the premiere, “The One Amigo.” The episode sees Bender decide to dip his toe into the exciting new world of 31st Century NFTs, with him creating a line of images starring him in different costumes. However, Bender quickly realizes that this was a mistake, causing an identity crisis that sends him on a journey to find out more about his robotic family. Back in New New York, the Planet Express crew plans a heist in order to steal the Bender NFTs, earning the likeness of their friend back.
It is always nice to see the cast ofFuturamaback again after some time off the air, meaning that episode 1 didn’t overshadow the joy of seeing everyone return for the season premiere. However, the episode just wasn’t all that interesting or original.Episodes focused on Bender’s family members have happened plenty of times before, and while this one does introduce new characters, they aren’t interesting enough to make the season 12 premiere outshine the old ones. The Planet Express crew’s storyline is a big generic as well, with Farnsworth overshadowing the rest of the gang.

However, the biggest problem withFuturamaseason 12, episode 1 is the subject matter: NFTs. While there was a time when NFTs were a hot topic ripe for comedy, that time has long passed.South Parkmade episodes parodying the NFT craze years ago, and havingFuturamado it all this time later just makes the show seem dated.Futurama’s NFT parody didn’t do anything new, and while being late to the game is undoubtedly a product ofFuturama’s production and release cycle, it is still hard to get anything out of this outdated topic episode.
Futurama Finally Calls Out The Show’s Worst Curse That Began 21 Years Ago
Futurama’s opening subtitle gag just called out the show’s most unfortunate trend, directly addressing one of the biggest problems it has faced.
9Futurama Season 12, Episode 8, “Cuteness Overlord”
Released On June 10, 2025
After a few great episodes,Futuramaseason 12, episode 8sticks out as a bit disappointing among the newest batch of episodes. The episode sees Leela and the Planet Express crew head back to Leela’s orphanarium, where they meet some of the new child residents. During this, Amy becomes obsessed with collecting Fuzzy Funbags, a series of highly collectible plushies that are similar to real-world Beanie Babies. However, the gang soon discovers that Fuzzy Funbags are actually a dangerous race of aliens who are on a mission to conquer Earth.
The biggest problem with “Cuteness Overlord” is that it just isn’t all that creative. The joke of a cute thing actually being really dangerous isn’t anything new, with it having been done in all kinds of other places.Futurama’s parody of Beanie Babies isn’t timely or original, and it doesn’t even add a fun sci-fi twist to the concept. “Cuteness Overlord” isn’t the worst episode inFuturamaseason 12, but it is far from the best.

Futurama Season 12’s New Simpsons Cameo Makes Matt Groening’s 10-Year-Old Crossover Episode Even Better
Futurama’s latest reference to Bart and The Simpsons works even better thanks to the hilarious crossover between the shows from a decade ago.
There are some positives to “Cuteness Overlord.“Futuramaepisodes centered on Amy, Kif, and their kidsare always fun, and it is nice to see a bit more of Leela’s backstory. However, the episode is still lacking a lot of what makes otherFuturamaepisodes so much better.

8Futurama Season 12, Episode 9, “The Futurama Mystery Liberry”
Released On July 31, 2025
Like many other seasons ofFuturama, season 12 had to have an anthology episode, with “The Futurama Mystery Liberry” filling this role. This time around, the theme of the anthology episode is children’s mystery books, with the three segments parodying series likeEncyclopedia BrownandThe Adventures of Tintin. Meanwhile, the framing device featuresReading Rainbow’s LeVar Burton in a space library, with him introducing each of the three segments.
The best part of “The Futurama Mystery Liberry” is the art style. Each of the three segments contains a different artstyle, with the episode being a visual treat. The best of these is obviously the design of the segment that parodiesThe Adventures of Tintin, with it perfectly recreating the style of the original comics.

Futurama New Anthology Story Is Made Even Stranger By Season 12’s Highest-Rated Episode
Futurama season 12, episode 9 is another anthology episode, and the framing device features a guest star that perfectly continues this season 12 gag.
While “The Futurama Mystery Liberry” is better than some of thepastFuturamaanthology episodes, it just doesn’t stand out all that much. There is nothing in the episode that is particularly clever, and while fans of the stories that it is parodying may get a kick out of these segments, it doesn’t do anything special within this format. “The Futurama Mystery Liberry” is a pretty middle of the road anthology episode, with it not being nearly as good as classics like “Anthology of Interest I.”

7Futurama Season 12, Episode 5, “One Is Silicon And The Other Gold”
Released On June 17, 2025
The next episode in ourFuturamaseason 12 ranking is episode 5, “One Is Silicon and the Other Gold.” A lot happens in this episode, with it kicking off as the Planet Express guys go to aFyre Festival parody known as Inferno Festival. This leads Leela to realize that she needs a friend group of her own, causing her to gather together many ofFuturama’s female side characters for an adventure. The episode also contains a storyline about a vengeful chatbot, a fake funeral, and a book club involving the aforementioned Planet Express guys, meaning that there is a lot to dissect here.
Despite “One Is Silicon and the Other Gold” being low on the list, there is a lot of good here.Futurama’s revival episodes have sidelined Leela in a major way, and episode 5 is the first one that has finally put her in the spotlight. It is almost as if the show is addressing this criticism with this episode, with her even talking about how she feels left out among the otherFuturamacharacters. It is also nice to see some ofFuturama’s lesser-seen women get some time to shine, with some of these side characters getting more development than they have in the past.

The main problem withFuturamaseason 12, episode 5 is that there is just way too much going on.The episode has a ton of intersecting storylines, but none of them are as interesting as the vast majority ofFuturama’s other episodes. The episode doesn’t have a clever premise to hook viewers, with it instead feeling like the episode throws everything at the wall to see what sticks. Any one of the many ideas in this episode could have been further fleshed out and brought to episode length, but as it stands, they just feel confused and rushed here.
6Futurama Season 12, Episode 4, “Beauty And The Bug”
Released On July 18, 2025
Next up isFuturamaseason 12, episode 4, “Beauty and the Bug.“Acting as a sequel toFuturamaseason 3’s “Where the Buggalo Roam,“the episode sees the Planet Express crew return to Mars to participate in a running of the buggalo event, something that Amy protests. The episode mainly focuses on Bender’s journey to become a master buggalo fighter, with the episode centering around this strange Martian parody of bullfighting. Bender gets a new love interest and a new costume, with the story mainly focusing on him and the Wongs.
Futuramaseason 12, episode 4 is pretty middle of the road, with nothing in it being especially good and nothing in it being especially bad. The Bender storyline is fun, and whileFuturamahas already had similar episodes where Bender randomly gets super invested in hobbies like professional wrestling and folk music in a similar way, the buggalo fighting story feels unique enough to the show that it works. Bender’s new love interest Marquita is also a fun character, with some considering it to beBender’s bestFuturamalove interestyet.

One of the biggest problems with the episode is its odd characterization of Leela. Leela has been characterized as an avid environmentalist and animal rights advocate throughoutFuturama, which is why it is strange that she seems apathetic towards Amy’s protest against the Wongs' treatment of buggalo. On top of that, characters like Fry and Farnsworth don’t have much to do in the episode, with them mostly standing around in the background throughout the story.
10 Harsh Realities Of Rewatching Futurama Season 1, 25 Years Later
Season 1 of Futurama has some missing elements and rough edges that make it hard to return to after the heights of the show’s later seasons.
5Futurama Season 12, Episode 6, “Attack Of The Clothes”
Released On July 18, 2025
Futuramahad another great episode on its hands with season 12, episode 6, “Attack of the Clothes.” The episode starts out with Farnsworth making his own Frankenstein’s Monster, but upon his experimental moths designing clothes for it, he soon realizes that he can become a fashion icon. The episode chronicles Farnsworth’s fashion line as it becomes immensely popular, while the Planet Express crew simultaneously deals with the fact that guest star Cara Delevingne is the one who has her head added to the monster’s body.
The bestFuturamaepisodes always use their sci-fi to explore some type of social commentary, and “Attack of the Clothes” does just that. The episode focuses on the wastefulness of fast fashion and the environmental damage that it can cause, meaning that it has an actual moral of the story. However, the episode is also incredibly funny and clever, making it more than just a satire.

The one major problem with “Attack of the Clothes” is that it doesn’t have a proper ending. The episode ends with the reveal that the clothes that they have been sending intoFarnsworth’s wormhole are actually going to a future Earth, meaning that they have doomed the planet. The way that they solve this problem is never revealed, although a future episode could tie up this cliffhanger ending.

Futurama has just changed the backstoy for Professor Farnsworth again, but this newest tweak fleshes out some of the character’s bombastic antics.
4Futurama Season 12, Episode 7, “Planet Espresso”
Released On June 17, 2025
Futuramaseason 12, episode 7, “Planet Espresso” is another great addition to the newest batch of episodes, with it being one of the strangest premises in the season yet. The episode sees Hermes learn about his father’s death, with him traveling home and discovering that he has inherited his father’s failing Jamaican coffee farm. However, he soon discovers thathis father’s coffee is actually the product of an alien race, with Hermes and Farnsworth discovering a buried spaceship full of advaned coffee beans from millions of years ago.
“Planet Espresso” is a rareFuturamaepisode that is centered on Hermes, giving the often forgotten Planet Express crew member even more development. The episode reveals a lot about Hermes' strained relationship with his father, adding another interesting layer to the character. On top of that, the introduction of the alien’s coffee and the reveals about the coffee’s impact on the lore ofFuturama’s Earth is incredibly interesting, with the episode including some Earth-shattering revelations.
Futurama Introduces A Secret New Villain Who Makes The Show’s Real Big Bad Even More Terrifying After 2 Decades
Futurama season 12 introduces a wild new villainous conspiracy that underscores the true big bad at the heart of the long-running sci-fi/comedy.
“Planet Espresso” still isn’t a perfect episode, with its biggest flaw being that it barely features the main cast outside of Hermes and Farnsworth. The rest of the characters head back to New New York after the coffee farm is started, leaving them out of most of the story. While not every episode can be an ensemble, it is almost always better when it is.
3Futurama Season 12, Episode 10, “Otherwise”
Released On July 30, 2025
Futuramaseason 12, episode 10, “Otherwise"is the season finale ofFuturamaseason 12, with it being really solid when compared to the show’s other season and series finales. The episode sees the Planet Express crew crash the Planet Express ship, with them having to take it into space to give it a proper burial. However, things go awry when dropping the wreckage into the multiversal sea, leading to a series of strange events.
“Otherwise” acts as a sequel to “Meanwhile,“the previousFuturamaseries finale, and it pulls the continued story off fantastically. Giving Fry visions of his past life with Leela adds the perfect level of emotion that elevates “Otherwise” above many ofFuturama’s other episodes. The proper introduction of the show’s multiverse is also a lot of fun, opening the door for all kinds of exciting stories inFuturamaseason 13.
Futurama Season 12 Ending Explained: New Multiverse Reveals & What That Fry & Leela Twist Means
The wild season 12 finale of Futurama opens the door for the sci-fi series to take on an entirely new realm of possibilities.
The one problem with “Otherwise” is thatmost of the episode revolves around a pretty confusing mystery, with it not making much sense until the reveal at the end of the episode. This makes the episode fun on a rewatch, but it is a bit confusing the first time through.
2Futurama Season 12, Episode 3, “The Temp”
Released On July 06, 2025
One of the best episodes inFuturamaseason 12 is episode 3, “The Temp.” The episode is one ofFuturama’s most mysterious yet, with it starting out with the reveal that Fry has seemingly been replaced by an entirely different human. However, this raises a lot of questions, as this imposter is wearing Fry’s clothes, and every member of the Planet Express crew thinks that he is Fry, even calling him by Fry’s name. Fry is nowhere to be seen and nobody seems worried, with the episode slowly revealing the events that led up to this terrifying situation.
Futuramaseason 12’s “The Temp” is by far one of the season’s most fun episodes, with the biggest positive of it being the unique structure. Rather than being told in chronological order, “The Temp” jumps all over the place, using flashbacks, flashforwards, and other continuity alterations. “The Temp” alsoacts as a sequel to one ofFuturama’s best episodes, with this mystery directly building off of a previous series storyline.
Another big positive of “The Temp” is that it introduces an all-new villain, something that has been rare for Hulu’sFuturamarevival. While the episode may not work as well on a rewatch due to viewers already knowing the mystery’s conclusion, it is a lot of fun the first time through, with it being one of the highlights of season 12.
10 Best Supporting Characters From Futurama
Futurama is filled with lots of fun and comical side characters who help make it unique, from rival captains to alien news hosts.
1Futurama Season 12, Episode 2, “Quids Game”
Released On June 15, 2025
Of all of the episodes thatFuturamaseason 12 released, episode 2 “Quids Game” is the best one. The episode sees Leela and the rest of the Planet Express crew throw Fry a surprise birthday party, with thembringing along dozens ofFuturamaside characterson the Planet Express ship. However, the characters soon find themselves stranded on a strange planet that contains nothing but a recreation of Fry’s childhood home. Upon entering, the characters are forced to compete in deadly renditions of childhood games, making this episode a clear parody ofSquid Game.
Before the episode’s release,Futurama’s parody of Netflix’sSquid Gamewas one of the most worrying episodes of the bunch.Futurama’s direct parody episodes have never been the best, and sinceSquid Gamesis a few years old, many were worried that it was going to be dated. However, the episode is a ton of fun, with it coming up with some unique competitions for the characters to compete in. The episode also gives a lot of characters who are hardly ever seen time to shine, with many of them even getting surprisingly killed off.
The best part of “Quids Game,” however, is its connection to Fry’s childhood. The episode is filled with flashbacks to one of Fry’s childhood birthday parties, and the storyline that is reveals is truly heartbreaking.Futurama’s storylines about Fry’s past have always been the show’s best, and this continues to be the cast inFuturamaseason 12, episode 2, “Quids Game.”
