Andorseason 2 is set to premiere in just a few weeks, and the show may provide appearances by characters from the originalStar Warstrilogy. TheAndorseason 2 trailershowed looks at many characters returning fromRogue One: A Star Wars Story, including K-2SO and Director Krennic. However, it’s unclear what other cameos or appearances may happen.Andorhas largely avoided fan service when it comes to cameo appearances and maintains a “boots-on-the-ground” vibe.

WithAndorseason 2’s timelinereportedly ending exactly whereRogue Onebegins, though, more familiar characters tied to theRebel Allianceor the Empire may appear in some fashion. The implications and connections to differentStar Warstitles being more prominent inAndorseason 2 makes it very possible that showrunner Tony Gilroy will be more open to introducing other and possibly more mystical elements toAndor. With that being said, here are the original trilogy characters who are most likely to appear, ranked from most to least likely.

Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars

10Mon Mothma

First Appeared: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Mon Mothmais the only character from the originalStar Warstrilogy to be confirmed to appear inAndorseason 2.The Senator from Chandrila was one ofAndorseason 1’s main characters, and the show will continue to showcase her story leading up to Mothma’s defection from the Empire. Mon Mothma appeared in theAndorseason 2 trailer, seemingly at the wedding of her daughter.

Mothma was one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance in the original trilogy and first appeared inReturn of the Jedi. Caroline Blakiston originated the role in 1983, and since then,Genevieve O’Reilly has taken over the part in theStar Warsprequels,Andor, andAhsoka.Star Warsfans know that Mon Mothma will go on to be the first chancellor of the New Republic, though it’s unclear when she will officially step down from the role.

9Leia Organa

First Appeared: Star Wars (1977)

Princess Leia Organa is one of the first characters we met in the original trilogy and is by far one of the most influential characters inStar Wars’ nearly 50-year history.Out of the main 3 characters from the original trilogy—Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia—she is the most likely to appear inAndorseason 2, since she would’ve already been active in the Rebel Alliance during that time.

Leia Organa

Leia had a cameo at the end ofRogue One, as the film led directly into the events ofA New Hope. However, with the passing of Carrie Fisher, it’s clear that if Leia is to return, she’ll need to be recast. Withmany fans calling for Carrie Fisher’s real-life daughter Billie Lourd to take over the role,Andormay be a great place to have that happen. Lourd appeared as Leia in a flashback inStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but hasn’t gotten a real shot at playing the Princess of Alderaan.

8C-3PO

The protocol droid,C-3PO, has appeared in nearly everyStar Warstitle, even if it was just in cameo fashion. With this trend in mind, it’s possible that C-3PO may appear, even in aid of Leia or her father, Senator Bail Organa. With C-3PO spending time on planets likeYavin 4and having appeared there inRogue One, it’s entirely possible to see the droid return inAndorseason 2.

Anthony Daniels has portrayed the beloved droid for nearly 50 years, and most recently made a cameo inAhsokaseason 1, where he delivered a message for Leia. While it’s unlikelyAndorwill focus a lot on C-3PO,it would be cool to see the droid interact with Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO.Even if it’s just a cameo, it would be great to see the droid again.

7R2-D2

Often found inStar Warswherever C-3PO appears, his droid companion R2-D2 isn’t far behind. While audiences have seen both droids without one another before, it only feels right that if one droid was making a cameo, both would appear.R2 has always been a savvy droid, and could even be useful to help a character like Mon Mothma or Cassian Andor.

Kenny Baker originally played R2-D2 from inside the droid, but more recently has been brought to life by puppeteers.

Because C-3PO and R2-D2 appeared together in their cameo inRogue One, it stands to reason that if either of these characters appears, they’ll likely be together. While R2 especially has the potential to have a greater impact on a show likeAndor, there’s likely just too much to accomplish in 12 episodes that they can’t spend much, if any, time with the fan-favorite droid.

6Wullf Yularen

While largely a minor character, Wullf Yularen has appeared in many differentStar Warstitles. An admiral who worked closely with Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars, and then became a colonel in the Empire, Yularen has been operating in the background of a lot of different titles. Because of Yularen’s connection to the Imperial Security Bureau, andYularen’s appearances inAndorseason 1, it’s very possible that the Imperial will appear again.

We’ve seen Yularen act as a mentor to Alexsandr Kallus inStar WarsRebelsbefore the ISB agent defected to the Rebellion, but it’s possible that Yularen will take another bright Imperial under his wing in ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero, or maybe even Syril Karn.

Yularen was among those who were killed when Luke Skywalker destroyed the first Death Star inA New Hope, so both of those connections would make him an interesting character to resurface.

5Darth Vader

There have been a lot of theories surrounding whether Darth Vader will be appearing inAndorseason 2. While it’s a distinct possibility, it still seems unlikely that the legendary villain will appear.Andorhas largely stayed away from the mysticism of the Force, the Sith, or the Jedi, and it feels odd that they may start now.It feels more natural that Vader would be mentioned by Imperial officials instead of actually appearing.

All 14 Actors Who’ve Played Darth Vader In Star Wars

Darth Vader is one of the most iconic villains in pop culture, but with a tenure lasting over 40 years, 14 actors have helped keep him in Star Wars.

It’s no secret that Darth Vader helped makeStar Warsinto the phenomenon that it is, but that doesn’t meanAndorhas to use the character. With Vader’s reputation proceeding him, just a mention of the Sith would be sufficient.Vader did appear inRogue One, and he provided one of the best sequences of the whole franchise with his hallway scene at the end of the film.

4Grand Moff Tarkin

Grand Moff Tarkin was largely seen as the “big bad” ofA New Hope, but his villainy with the Empire dates much further back. With his role as a high-ranking Imperial,it’s possible that Tarkin could appear in some form inAndorseason 2. Despite how great of a character Tarkin is, it doesn’t seem like the right move for the show.

ForRogue One,Lucasfilm digitally recreated Peter Cushing for his appearancein the film. The move was controversial, considering Cushing had been dead for over 30 years at that point. While the artistry that went into the recreation is admirable, it brings in an ethical question about posthumously bringing back a character instead of recasting them.If Tarkin does return forAndorseason 2, it’s possible we’ll see a new actor portraying the governor of the Outer Rim.

3Emperor Palpatine

First Appeared: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Although Palpatine is the head of the Empire, his name and likeness were hardly mentioned inAndorseason 1.The show committed to portraying the small acts of rebellion that eventually rose to the Rebel Alliance. This focus on the “little guy” instead of big government officials like Palpatine helped ground the show.

However, it’s not out of the cards for Palpatine to return. ActorIan McDiarmid made a cameo inRogue Oneand has appeared in manyStar Warstitles in the past couple of years.Palpatine could appear in scenes with the ISB, or even with Director Krennic. However, it’d be fascinating to see Palpatine get his hands dirty and maybe take on some Rebels.

2Wedge Antilles

Ace pilot Wedge Antilles has never been a main character inStar Wars, butAndorcould have the pilot appear inAndorseason 2. While this would be amazing for fans of the originalStar Warstrilogy and for fans of the character, it seems unlikely. It’s possible that Lucasfilm could recast Wedge for an appearance, but it may be confusing to casual viewers.

Denis Lawson originally portrayed the character, and if they wanted to bring Lawson back, he’d need to be de-aged 50 years. Knowing how much work went intode-aging Mark Hamill for his appearance inThe Mandalorian, Lucasfilm may not have been interested in spending that kind of money on a supporting character in a show likeAndor.

1Boba Fett

While Boba Fett would be a welcome addition to the cast ofAndorseason 2, there are a couple of reasons why he likely won’t appear. Despite how beloved Boba Fett is,there’s no clear reason to bring back the bounty hunter. As far as we know, no bounty hunters have been used in the show, and it’d be odd to bring them in now. Additionally, there’s the issue of casting.

Temuera Morrison has portrayed all clones in live-action sinceStar Wars: Episode II -Attack of the Clones.

Because Boba Fett is a clone, Lucasfilm would have to bring back Temuera Morrison, who’d need to be de-aged for the role. While Morrison would likely be happy to do it,this would again be another difficult use of the technology, andStar Warshasn’t taken the opportunity to use a de-aged Morrison more as the younger versions of the clones before- which seems to have set a precedent for their view on de-aging Morrison as a whole. This was exemplified by keeping the live-action clones inAhsokahelmeted the entire time.

WithAndortaking place so close to the events of the originalStar Warstrilogy, the possibilities for who could appear are seemingly endless. It’s an exciting time to be aStar Warsfan, and to see so many connections to the original trilogy. Hopefully, Tony Gilroy and his team have brought some characters back from the original trilogy forAndorseason 2.
