Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) questioning a man in an interrogation room in Cross

In the clip, the suspect can be seen being initially smug and tries to prove that Cross will never get inside his head, nor will he get a confession. This smugness quickly fades as Cross explains how a phrase the suspect used connects toMacbethand proves his guilt. Those watching through the interrogation glass are equally entertained and impressed by Cross' work.

What This Clip Means For Cross

His Detective Skills Are Unparalleled

This clip demonstrates Cross' formidable intellectand his ability to make meaningful connections based on limited information. He is not an average detective who will be seen simply chasing down suspects in each episode. He uses his rare insights, his education, and background in forensic psychology to best understand those he is pursuing and interrogating. Cross is a man of many talents, and criminals will have a difficult time proving their innocence when he is able to see the truth about them.

There is a playfulness to it all that can help makeCrossa great detective show, yet this attitude also makes Cross overconfident, and that could be his undoing as the show progresses.

There is also a performative nature to the interrogation in the clip, with Cross even acknowledging that he already has everything he needs to prove the suspect’s guilt, but is going to go through it anyway to entertain himself. This is not only for his entertainment, but for the amusement of his partners watching the interrogation. There is a playfulness to it all that can help makeCrossagreat detective show, yet this attitude also makes Cross overconfident, and that could be his undoing as the show progresses.

Our Take On The Cross Clip

This Is An Improvement On Past Adaptations

The interrogation scene does an effective job of showing how cunning Cross can be and how he relishes being able to see the full picture. This more analytical and charismatic version of the character feels much more faithful to Patterson’s novels than the2012Alex Crossmoviestarring Tyler Perry.Hodges already seems to be a fitting casting choice for the eponymous character, and the clip leaves me wanting to see more of what he has in store whenCrossdebuts on Prime Video.
