Warning! Spoiler ahead for Frasier season 2, episode 8, “Thank You, Dr. Crane.“TheFrasierreboot season 2 brings Frasier Crane back home to Seattle, and in the process, it wraps up the original series 20 years after it ended its run. WhileCheerscapped off its 11-year runon NBC in 1993, the network found a way to continue capitalizing on the success of the Boston-set sitcom. Admittedly, giving Kelsey Grammer’s standout but still supporting character his own show was risky, consideringthe failure of Rhea Pearlman’sThe Tortellis. That said, the original Frasier only took 1 episode to prove its quality, which it maintained throughout its run.

Grammer was and continues to be great as the elitist but with a heart of gold Frasier Crane. That said, the originalCheersspinoff couldn’t have succeeded without the rest of the cast. The oldFrasierhad to create a couple of plot holes to introduce John Mahoney and David Hyde Pierce asMartin and Niles Crane, and they were worth it, considering the role they played in the show. Peri Gilpin’s Roz and Jane Leeves' Daphne, on the other hand, completed the ensemble. Because of this, it took two decades for the Seattle-basedFrasiershow to truly end.

Frasier Moved But The Rest Of The Cast’s Lives Moved Forward

At the end of the originalFrasier, Frasier decided to cap off his 11 years in Seattle and move to San Francisco for a TV job. Much has been said about the finale, which included a final twist, wherein Grammer’s character flew last minute to Chicago instead to pursue a romantic relationship with Charlotte. This also marked the end of his KACL show,The Frasier Crane Show, with Roz moving on to become the radio’s station manager.

If anything, it was the beginning of some really interesting storylines for those who Frasier was leaving behind in Seattle.

That being said, considering how effectivelyFrasierdeveloped the arcs of the rest of the ensemble, the older Crane brother moving didn’t feel like the true end of the project. If anything, it was the beginning of some really interesting storylines for those who Frasier was leaving behind in Seattle. Niles and Daphne just had their only child David, who is now all grown up and acast member of theFrasierrevival. Meanwhile, Martin and Ronee had just gotten married and were beginning to live together.

What Happened To Niles & Daphne After Frasier & Where They Are During The Reboot Explained

The Frasier reboot season 2, episode 8 FINALLY reveals what happened to David Hyde Pierce’s Niles Crane, but makes his ongoing absence worse.

Frasier may be the titular character of the show, but between him and those he was leaving in Seattle, there were still compelling storylines that could have continued without him. Some of those things, the revival have referred to. That includesFreddy returning to the Emerald City to watch the Mariners' first NFC Championship with Martin, and David’s childhood with Niles and Daphne.

Sadly, the homecoming results in Frasier making his former producer friend realize that it’s time to move on from her role at the radio company. With Roz ending her work, nothing is tying her anymore to the Pacific Northwest. Frasier himself suggests that it may be better for her to move to the East Coast, with him and Alice there. Roz moving means that no one else from the original ensemble is still in Seattle. Martin is dead, while Niles and Daphne have moved out of Washington State — something that the Paramount+ series confirms in the same outing.

Frasier No Longer Has Any Reason To Return To Seattle After Roz Leaves KACL

It’s An End Of An Era For Frasier

Now that Frasier and the rest of the original show’s cast are no longer in Seattle, Grammer’s character no longer has any compelling reason to return. This effectively wraps up the franchise’s time in the Cranes' hometown. Granted thatFrasier and Roz can still visit their KACL friends, Gil and Bulldog, who are supposedly still working at the radio station, but their future get-togethers aren’t as important as visiting family.

Who The Guest Caller Is In Frasier Season 2, Episode 8

Frasier Crane returns to Seattle for a final KACL show in Frasier season 2, episode 8, and for it, the Paramount+ series recruits a special guest.

The only reason Frasier would want to return to Seattle is to visit Martin’s grave. In “Thank You, Dr. Crane,” Frasier and Freddy celebrate the life of the Crane patriarch by visiting his favorite drinking hole, McGinty’s. Besides that, this may very well be the last time that Seattle will be featured in the Frasier franchise.
