NewGenshin Impact5.3 leaks about Lan Yan highlight a buff that may actually make the rumored 4-star character a usable unit in team comps. Lan Yan has already been confirmed by developer HoYoverse in drip marketing for the next patch of the action RPG.The only details about her that the developer announced are that she has an Anemo Vision and is from the region of Liyue, but leaks have highlighted her further. Lan Yan is one of the four upcomingleaked characters forGenshin Impact5.3, a list that also includes Mavuika and the Pyro Traveler, for instance.

Mavuika, Citlali, and the Pyro Traveler are all expected to be 5-star characters, according to the leaks, while rumors point toward Lan Yan being a 4-star unit. Her release should celebrate the upcoming Lantern Rite Festival in 2025, which is rumored to occur in Version 5.3, too.The beta tests for the patch have already started, revealing several key details about the content, such asMavuika’s signature weapon inGenshin Impact5.3and the gameplay kits for all upcoming units. This includes the abilities used by Lan Yan, which originally seemed suboptimal, but have allegedly since been tweaked.

Lan Yan’s Leaked Shield Ability In Genshin Impact 5.3 Has Been Buffed

The Character’s Protective Skill Now Lasts Longer

One of the most important parts of Lan Yan’s leaked gameplay kit in Version 5.3 is creating a shield capable of absorbing damage, which can be used by her or other party members. This shield is a result of her leaked Elemental Skill, allegedly called Phoenix-Wisp Pinion Dance. According to a leak that was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” onReddit, the duration of Lan Yan’s shield has been buffed during the beta tests forGenshin Impact5.3, making it much more optimal to use her than she originally was during the start of the tests.

Genshin Impact 5.5 Leaks Point To This 5.3 Character Having A Much Larger Role In Future Updates

A leaked character from Genshin Impact 5.5 may actually make their debut in Version 5.3, though under a much more menacing guise at first.

As seen in the leak, the duration of Lan Yan’s shield now rests at 12.5 seconds, up 4.5 seconds from the original eight seconds it lasted when players first gained access to her in the beta tests. While the increase is not immense, it is much closer to the 16-second cooldown time of her Elemental Skill. It does not offer players 100% uptime protection, but the length of the team comp’s rotation gets a lot more comfortable as players have to endure less time without a shield protecting their team comp inGenshin Impact.

Lan Yan’s Buffed Shield Now Allows Genshin Impact Team Members To Rotate

There Are Extra Ways Of Increasing The Shield’s Durability

The buff to Lan Yan is a significant one as it makes her a truly usable character in parties, as opposed to how she was before. With an eight-second shield, little could be done rotating through the team comp’s members and their abilities. Overall, the shield was somewhat useless other than protecting from immense bursts of damage, but the extended duration cited in the leak can give players enough time to go through the main DPS’ combat phase inGenshin Impactbefore the protection wears off and the cycle through the rotation once again.

Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks Show Mavuika Already Needs A Major Design Overhaul

New leaks about Mavuika in Genshin Impact 5.3 have emerged and they point to yet another fix the Pyro Archon needs before she is released.

Of course, the shield could last much less if it is destroyed by incoming damage. The shield, however, may have a special mechanic, as indicated by another set of leaks. According to the character’s leaked gameplay kit, also posted onReddit, one of Lan Yan’s passive Talents will allow the shield to undergo Elemental Conversion when her Skill interacts with Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro. If it does, the converted shield will absorb DMG from the corresponding element with more efficiency. Furthermore, the leaks show that her shield can be sustained for longer viaConstellations inGenshin Impact.

The leak says thatLan Yan’s C2 allows up to 40% of the shield’s DMG absorption to be restored up to its original maximum absorption when the shield is active and the active team member deals Normal Attack DMG to opponents. If players shield the team with Lan Yan and then useArlecchino inGenshin Impactas their main DPS, for example, the 5-star Pyro character’s rotation should be able to restore a portion of the shield’s DMG absorption. Her leaked C6 grants her Elemental Skill an extra charge, meaning she could refresh her shield should it fall early, too.

The usage of two Skills should not stack the shield’s duration up to 24 seconds but, instead, refresh it with a new one.

Overall, it seems like Lan Yan will be a fairly flexible support for various team comps that have main DPS dealing Normal Attacks and triggering Elemental Reactions constantly. The leaked buff to her shield’s duration is a welcome one, even if somewhat limited, but it should still be taken with a grain of salt, as there may still be changes leading up to the release ofGenshin Impact5.3 in early January 2025.
