Daredevil: Born Againhas brought back several of the characters from the original Netflix show, but there is one burning mystery that has yet to be revealed after the first three episodes. While Matt Murdock’s return to theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)has been widely anticipated and praised, the return of supporting characters like Vanessa, the wife of Wilson Fisk, has added to the complexity and excitement of the Disney+ series. However, from the first episode, there is a lot of tension between Wilson and his estranged wife.
Of course, in the Netflix series, Wilson was sent away byMCU hero Matt Murdock, and he promised to stop his criminal activity in order to protect his beloved wife. However,Vanessa was hurt by her husband’s abandonment, and keen to keep the business going, which led to her stepping in to take over his criminal activity in Hell’s Kitchen. While Fisk was absent for years, Vanessa built the empire to new heights, and she eventually found a lover who has only had their name revealed in the series so far: Adam.
3Adam Could Be A Code Name For Jack Duquesne
The Swordsman COuld Be The Rapscallion Who Captured Vanessa’s Heart
InHawkeye, a character by the name of Jack Duquesne is introduced, played by the incredible Tony Dalton. In the series, he is dating Eleanor Bishop, the mother of Kate Bishop, but it isn’t long before thecharacter’s shady past is revealed. Duquesne’s engagement to Eleanor did not appear to be in good standing by the end ofHawkeye, which could point to the character moving on to form a new relationship with someone like Vanessa.
Now, this idea was floated by a user onX,akaTwitter, and it has the potential to pan out, especially consideringDuquesne’s role as a villain known as the Swordsmanin the comics. However, the timeline does not appear to line up, as Duquesne and Eleanor are together in the time after the blip. Unless Duquesne was also with Vanessa,it appears complicated and messy to try and resolve this timelineof events.
2Could Adam Be Foggy’s Name From Witness Protection?
Foggy Nelson Could Have Faked His Own Death… For Love?
Another theory that is very likely a miss is that Adam could be a code name for Foggy Nelson after he enters witness protection. Theevents ofDaredevil: Born Againpick up a year after Foggy’s death, and assuming that Foggy’s death was actually faked, and the character enters into witness protection, it doesn’t make much sense for him to form a relationship with Vanessa, who is located in Hell’s Kitchen, where he would have been relocated away from.
Despite this, there are fans on web forums who are floating the idea that this is Foggy undercover. The truth is likely that these theories stem more from a place of desperately wanting to explain and find a way forFoggy to not be dead, and the story to be leading up to some big reveal. But the reality does not support this theory in the least, and itappears incredibly unlikely for this to be the case. If Foggy has faked his death, he is also likely to not be forming close relationships with such a controversial figure who could once again put him in immense danger.
1Adam Is Most Likely A New Character
Adam May Not Have Been Mentioned In The MCU Before Now
The truth is, Adam is probably not anyone special. Or, if he is someone special, he likely hasn’t been seen in the MCU up to this point. One of the only other Adams mentioned in the MCU to date is Adam Warlock, and as unlikely as both of the above may be, it appears even less possible for Vanessa’s secret lover to be a golden alien who is currently traveling with the Guardians of the Galaxy. But it does appear thatFisk will act out in some waythat will likely see Adam getting seriously hurt.

Daredevil: Born Again has just let loose one of the most shocking hero deaths in the MCU, calling to mind many other good guys that bit the bullet.
Yes, he did promise Vanessa that he wouldn’t hurt him, but Fisk is not a forgiving man, and he often acts on impulse. In the past, he had literally murdered people out of embarrassment, and a desire to preserve his relationship with Vanessa. It seems that Fisk will probably find a way around his promise to Vanessa, uncover the true identity of her lover, and take out his aggression on the man. But untilDaredevil: Born Againunveils the identity of this character, Adam remains a mystery of the MCU that appears nearly impossible to solve.
