Becoming a witch or wizard in Hogwarts Legacy gives players many fun magical spells to play with, but there are so many that the sequel could add.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Focus On The Triwizard Tournament

It Would Be A Prequel To Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy 2could focus on the Triwizard Tournament, a famous, or arguably infamous, competition between the three biggest wizarding schools in Europe: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Durmstrang Institute, and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. These tournaments saw the three schools submit a student each to be its champion, who would then compete in three trials, with the winner taking home the iconic Triwizard Cup. This event was depicted in the fourthHarry Potterbook and film,The Goblet of Fire.

By the time the firstHogwarts Legacytakes place, the Triwizard Tournaments have been stopped indefinitely. The last one, beforeThe Goblet of Fire, took place in 1792, roughly 100 years before theevents ofHogwarts Legacy. It resulted in the injury of three judges, which was the final nail in the coffin to convince the three schools it was too dangerous to continue.

It is mentioned that there were several attempts at bringing back the Triwizard Tournaments after 1792. However, these were considered failures, making the 1792 Triwizard Tournament likely the last one before 1994.

However,Hogwarts Legacy 2could be a prequel to the first game, one that covers a Triwizard Tournament prior to, or even covering, the final one in 1792. The main character could be chosen as the champion of Hogwarts, who must then complete all three tasks while solving some greater threat to the school. The Triwizard Tournament would certainly serve as an excellent backdrop to a much larger story.

10 Rarest Things That Can Happen In Hogwarts Legacy

Players can find plenty of secrets through careful exploration, but when it comes to the rarest events in Hogwarts Legacy, it all comes down to luck.

The Player Could Choose Which School They Represent In The Triwizard Tournament

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Start At Hogwarts, Durmstrang, Or Beauxbatons

One twist to the originalHogwarts Legacygame could be thatplayers get to choose which school they originally come from. The game could then start differently depending on which one is picked, similar to howCyberpunk 2077’s Lifepathshandled its opening. This would be just one of manyelementsHogwarts Legacy 2should borrow from other games.

As Durmstrang canonically never won a Triwizard Tournament, the outcome of the tournament could be rendered inconclusive, much like the 1994 one, due to the events of the wider story. That way, players who pick Durmstrang won’t lose unfairly.

The player would be able to continue the game as a student from that school, representing it as its champion in the Triwizard Tournament. It wouldn’t make a huge difference to the overall plot, as the tournament would still take place in Hogwarts. Much like howHogwarts Legacygave the playerdifferent outcomes depending on which house they picked, the player could befriend different students depending on which school they chose.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Cover The Very First Triwizard Tournament

It Could Take Place In 1294

The very first Triwizard Tournament, which took place around 1294, would make for a very intriguing setting forHogwarts Legacy 2. After all, little is known about the original Triwizard Tournament, and it’s not hard to believe that quite a bit went wrong during that time.It would also be very interesting to meet the original founders of the Triwizard Tournamentto see what kind of people they were.

Additionally, taking part in all the customs associated with the Triwizard Tournament, such as the Yule Ball, would be a fun inclusion. They could work just like the addition of the different seasons in the originalHogwarts Legacy, with the Yule Ball obviously taking place during the Winter. IfHogwarts Legacy 2were to be set during the original Triwizard Tournament, players could see the very beginning of those traditions.

While there is no way of knowing if a Triwizard Tournament will serve as the backdrop forHogwarts Legacy 2, it’s not hard to see how it would easily fit in. Players attempting to overcome the trials of the tournament while dealing with their own personal issues and perhaps that of a larger threat feels like the ideal way to both weave an interesting narrative and pay homage toThe Goblet of Fire. Hopefully, aHogwarts Legacysequel will utilize the Triwizard Tournaments in some way.
