In an exciting twist, Netflix’s new comedy reunited five cast members fromThe Good Place, notably D’Arcy Carden and Kristen Bell. NBC’s hit showThe Good Place, created by Michael Shur, ran from 2016 to 2020, winning the hearts of audiences and critics alike. In its four-year run, the comedy garnered a whopping 8 Critics Choice nominations, 14 Primetime Emmy nominations, and 2 Golden Globes nominations. In the four years since the finale,The Good Place’s cast has worked togetherand met up personally before. However, few reunions are as exciting as the one in Netflix’sNobody Wants This.

The rom-com follows an agnostic podcaster named Joanne (Bell), who falls for a charming rabbi named Noah (Brody), forming a complicated star-crossed lovers relationship. While Brody never appeared onThe Good Place,Bell and four supporting actors from the new Netflix rom-com played parts in the NBC TV show, making it one of the biggest on-screen cast reunions for the show.Though all the cross-over actors are exciting, the most significant part of the reunion is seeing D’Arcy Carden – aka Janet – act alongside Kristen Bell – aka Eleanor Shellstrop – in thecast ofNobody Wants This.

Carden Plays A Hilarious And Cynical Woman Named Ryann In Nobody Wants This

Out of the five actors fromThe Good Placewho are part ofNobody Wants This, three appeared in guest roles. However, D’Arcy Carden and Kristen Bell have more significant roles in both shows. Across the season, Kristen Bell’s Joanne spends time with the only friends she really cares about – Ashley, Charles, and Ryann – the last of whom is played by D’Arcy Carden.Ryann shows up in three of the ten episodes inNobody Wants Thisseason 1.

Despite only being onscreen for about 15 minutes, the show establishes a strong connection between Joanne and Ryann. She, Ashley, and Joanne go to spinning class and have dinner together. Ryann is one of the few friends she introduces to Noah. Joanne’s close friends are virtually the only people in the Netflix romantic comedy to support Noah and Joanne’s relationship.

Nobody Wants This Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When They Play

The fantastic scoring and soundtrack for Netflix’s Nobody Wants This elevate an already great rom-com, increasing the emotional depth of the story.

Considering Joanne and Noah decide to stay together without her converting at theend ofNobody Wants This, the couple will need some sort of support. Morgan seems to get onboard with the relationship, but she’s the only person directly supporting the couple within their families. Even though she’s not a family member, if the show gets picked up for a second season, Ryann could be another person on the couple’s side when others try to break Noah and Joanne up.

How Joanne And Ryan’s Friendship Differs From Eleanor And Janet’s Friendship

The Pairs Have Vastly Different Dynamics

InThe Good Place, Eleanor and Janet start out with a contentious dynamic because of the latter’s chipper attitude. Janet is focused on serving the humans and doesn’t possess the ability to make friends. However, the pair develop a better dynamic after Michael reboots Janet so many times that she gains the ability to make jokes, lie, and have emotions. By the end of the series, the two share moments of affection and camaraderie.

Rather than being sentimental, Ryann and Joanne’s friendship is built on crudeness and the harsh realities of life.

What The Good Place Actor Should Appear in Nobody Wants This Season 2?

Nobody Wants This Should Avoid Other Main Actors From The Good Place

While it would be great to see Kristen Bell back onscreen with Manny Jacinto, Jameela Jamil, or William Fitzgerald Harper, the idea of putting another principal cast member fromThe Good PlaceinNobody Wants Thisis too risky. The current integration of cast members from the NBC show feels natural; however, it could easily cross into fan service territory. However, many phenomenal supporting or guest cast members fromThe Good Placecould fit well inNobody Wants Thisseason 2.

Donna Shellstrop

Rabbi Shirah

Maribeth Monroe, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Amy Okuda – who play Mindy St. Claire, Simone Garnett, and Gayle, respectively – would be great additions to the cast ofNobody Wants Thisseason 2. All three of these actors played small enough roles in the original show for it not to seem like overt fan service, especially since none of them had strong relationships with Janet or Eleanor. They have incredible comedic timing that would lend itself well to a romantic comedy. Additionally, they have great emotional ranges that could be helpful in heavier or more emotional scenes inNobody Wants This.
