InTOTK,however, the belovedLegend of Zeldacharacter shows up with herhair in a short bob and a more streamlined dress design.
In spite of, or maybe because of the design’s simplicity, it’s been difficult for cosplayers to get all the details correct. Cosplayergrumpybonescosplayon Reddit gets the design just right, however, down to the smallest detail. The incredible outfit isentirely handmade by the cosplayer,and features Zelda in her short white dress with signature green front and bottom panels. The cosplayer also wears a perfectly styled wig, wraparound, and sandals, and carriesa replica of the Master Sword. The design is beautifully made anda faithful recreation of the game’s princess.

Grumpybonescosplay changed every piece of the pattern to get the best fit and create the most accurate representation of the game’s dress. The fabric is a mix of silk and, according to the creator, is as soft as it appears inGrumpybonescosplay’s Instagram pictures.
The most complex part of the outfit is the print down the front of the dress, which displays a detailed pattern. Grumpybonescosplay recreated this with290 hand-made beads made of Polymer clay. The signature circlet crown was also sculpted by hand from clay.
This cosplay isn’t just good, it’s critically acclaimed: Grumpybonescosplay entered it into the Rose City Comic Con cosplay competition, and has previously placed high in Oregon’s Kumoricon.

Princess Zelda has always been a staple of theZeldafranchise as the titular character. Even though Zelda hasn’t usually been the focus of the games - at leastuntil the recently-releasedEchoes of Wisdom-she’s played a critical role in every single one of the games she’s appeared in.
All her designs are iconic and instantly recognizable, but theTOTKversion of the princess might be my favorite. This cosplay perfectly captures the mix of femininity and strength that theTOTKprincess embodies. The cosplayer has hinted at an upgraded version of the outfit, whichwill include shoes cobbled together by hand.I, for one, can’t wait to see how they improve on the design.
