Lapis was the first playable character to be revealed forHyper Light Breaker, and her all-around powerful SyComs make her an excellent Breaker to test out builds with. Her more general SyCom, Warrior, gives bonus stat increases whenever you upgrade it, meaning she gains stats faster than other Breakers. This also means that you may take her Warrior SyCom along to almost any build; you choose to upgrade whichever stats are most helpful in the moment, and you get a slight bonus while you do it without having to worry about synergy.

Generally, your SyCom and your Holobytes are the most important in determining your build, no matter which of thethree playable Breakersyou’re playing. Holobytes are your modifiers that increase your stats, damage, and other traits, while your SyCom is Breaker-dependent and includes unique passives. Like the others, Lapis has two SyComs: Lightweaver and Warrior. For this DPS-focused build, you’ll want to run Warrior.

Build Your Bank To Increase Your Damage

There are a few builds inHyper Light Breakerthat take a while to get off the ground, and this Bright Blood build for Lapis is one such build. It’s based around the Plasma Edge and Danger Blood Holobytes, which increase your DMG when you have more Blood in your cache and the Danger Level is higher, respectively. To fully take advantage of these buffs, you’ll want to run Lapis' Warrior SyCom, which has super high base stats and gains extra every time you upgrade it.

With Lapis' high stats, your weapon choices are super broad. However, for the Blood-focused build to work, there are specific Holobytes that you’re going to need:

Gamma Claws or other Dual Weapon

Berserker’s Exoskeleton or Critical Ring

Armor

Medium or Heavy Armor

This build, outside the Holobytes needed, is pretty open-ended. It relies onfilling your cache with Blood, which in turn increases your damage. This persists between runs in the same Cycle, so this Holobyte only gets better as you go. In the same vein, Materials Processor gains 0.25% Blade DMG every time you collect a material; as your runs go on, this Holobyte will only get better and better.

The Butcher’s Tool Holobyte is optional in this build; if you find a Holobyte you think will work better, feel free to swap it out. Butcher’s Tool is one of the more helpful “neutral” Holobytes that don’t really rely on others or certain stats to function, although having a weapon that deals high stagger can be helpful. It’s one of the few sources of healing inHyper Light Breaker, and can be the difference between life and death in the more difficult runs. If you may find another Holobyte that heals, or maybe another to synergize with your Blood and Material collection, consider whether the boost it gives is worth giving up the potential to heal.

SyCom Upgrades To Prioritize

Thanks to Lapis' Warrior SyCom passive, upgrading your SyCom using Cores is more and more worth it. Warrior already has excellent starting stats, and these stats only scale upward with each upgrade. Generally, you should upgrade your Strike and HP stats first.Strike is simple enough; it increases your Blade damage, making percentage increases thanks to your Holobytes that much more effective. HP, however, is a bit more niche.

Hyper Light Breaker Steam Reviews Are In & The Verdict Is Less Than Favorable

Hyper Light Breaker has launched into early access today, and the Steam reviews are rolling in with a less-than-favorable verdict on the gameplay.

If you get the Blitz Blade Holobyte, you’ll sacrifice 35% of your HP in order to gain 200% Blade DMG.This means that you’re cutting an already small health pool down by over a third, making Lapis a lot squishier than she was previously.Upgrading your HP stat will help mitigate some of that squishiness. Your HP will still be reduced by 35%, but the overall number of hit points you have will increase, allowing you to take more hits.

How To Play Lapis' Bright Blood Build

Channel Your Inner Crow And Hoard Resources

Both your Material Processor and Plasma Edge Holobytes reward resource hoarding, so this is going to be the name of the game.Start out slow on your initial runs, focusing on gathering as much Blood and materials as you safely can, then extracting before you die. Prioritize Holobyte collection as well, giving you the best chances you’re able to to grab the Holobytes you need.

There’s no way to guarantee that a Holobyte drops, unfortunately. Be patient in your runs and try to make the best of each Cycle, even if you can’t run the whole build you want right away.

Between runs, try to spend as little Blood as possible so that your Plasma Edge maintains its bonuses as well. It relies on having a big bank built up, so as tempting as it can be to try and stock up gear for your next Cycle, save the spending for next time. Both Plasma Edge and Danger Blood require the player to find a balance; for Plasma Edge, this balance is between saving Blood to increase your DMG and spending Blood to better your gear. With Danger Blood, this balance is between profiting off of the additional Blood you gain and staying safe from the threat of an increasingly dangerous Overgrowth.

Early on, it’s best to leave when the danger meter under your minimap reaches 50% and the Adept miniboss will spawn. This maximizes the Blood you earn from Danger Blood while still giving you a safe enough window of time to extract.

One final thing to note about this build is that Danger Blood will be super helpful to get Plasma Edge off the ground, as increased Blood gain is really important. Additionally, the danger level of the Overgrowth always maxes out when you start to extract, so the Blood you gain while doing the extraction survival fight is always boosted quite a bit, netting you around 500 Blood per extraction. If you want to farm Blood but don’t want to spend time actually exploring the map, head straight to the extraction for a guaranteed bag.

Overall, the Bright Blood build for Lapis requires some really specific mods, so it will be hard to fully pull together unless you get lucky, but the heart of the build is relevant no matter what Holobytes you get. Make sure your Holobytes work together; a bunch of random upgrades are useless if they’re not feeding one another, and they won’t help in the long run. No matter what upgrades you get, you’ll have infinite chances to try again thanks toHyper Light Breaker’s roguelike gameplay.
