ThenextStar Warsmovieis based entirely uponThe MandalorianTV show and its characters, yet it looks as if the franchise is completely ignoring this TV show ahead ofThe Mandalorian and Grogu’s release. Long beforeThe Mandalorian and Grogumoviewas even a concept,The Mandalorianwas premiering to the world and taking it by storm, making history for the franchise by proving just how successful the live-action TV realm could be for the galaxy. Now, however, merchandise and theme park additions aside, it’s almost as if it doesn’t exist any longer.

The Mandalorianwas originally slated for four seasons, with creator and executive producer Jon Favreau revealing in early 2023 thatThe Mandalorianseason 4 scripts were already written, but delays during the Hollywood strikes later that year seemed to convince them to turn this season into a movie instead. In January 2024,The Mandalorian and Groguwas announced, and ever since, absolutely nothing about the future, and even the past to an extent, ofThe MandalorianTV show has been acknowledged. Even worse,Star Warsseems to just be largely ignoring this successful series altogether ever since season 3.

Star Wars Hasn’t Updated Their Databank For The Mandalorian Season 3

It’s The Only Show That Isn’t Fully Up-To-Date

Star Wars’official website,StarWars.com, contains a “databank” of information about their various properties to provide audiences with a resource about characters, creatures, and more fromStar Warsmovies and TV shows. For the latter, everything is typically updated as new episodes come out, including episode guidesthat review the events of each episode and point out some fun facts along the way. This was seen most recently withAhsoka,Star Wars: The Bad Batchseason 3, andThe Acolyte, and their databanks were updated with each new episode that premiered.

The Mandalorian Season 4 Updates: Cast, Story, & Everything We Know

After The Mandalorian season 3’s conclusion in 2023, the story of The Mandalorian season 4 is shaping up to be one of the show’s biggest yet.

This, however, was not the case forThe Mandalorian, at least not with season 3. As it stands today, well over a year and a half since season 3 premiered,StarWars.com’s databankforThe Mandalorianstill isn’t updated for season 3 - at least, not entirely. Episode guides only go up untilThe Mandalorianseason 2 finale, and character stories and bios, such asDin Djarin’s, only go through the events ofThe Book of Boba Fett. While briefer bios and pictures have been updated, and some new elements have been added, the bigger picture is still entirely missing.

This wouldn’t be as strange as it is if it wasn’t for all the TV shows that have been released after season 3 being perfectly up-to-date. Even worse is the fact that those were updated as their respective shows and seasons aired; for some reason, despite being just mere months beforeAhsokaseason 1,The Mandalorianseason 3 didn’t get this same treatment. It’s a small thing to point out, certainly, but it still says something all the same.

Star Wars Didn’t Even Celebrate The Mandalorian’s Five-Year Anniversary

The Show Wasn’t Even Mentioned That Day

What’s stung the worst forThe Mandalorianfans like myself, however, is the fact thatStar Warslargely ignored the first milestone anniversary ofThe Mandalorian: its 5-year anniversary. On July 31, 2025,The Mandaloriancelebrated 5 years since its premiere, which introduced the world to Din Djarin and Grogu. This was expected to be a rather big celebration forStar Wars, particularly becausethe movie based on this TV show, the franchise’s first-ever live-action show, is currently in production. Instead,Star Warswas silent.

The strangest part about this was thatStar Wars’international social media accounts, such asStar Wars UKandStar Wars Italia, had a compilation video ofThe Mandalorianclips celebrating the 5-year anniversary posted.Star Wars’main Facebook page also seemed to post the same video, but when I personally attempted to trace it back to the officialStar Warsaccount there, it was nowhere to be found. The mainStar Warsaccounts, however, failed to make any posts on social media, instead posting a new quiz and some promo for its upcoming TV show,Skeleton Crew.

What’s Causing Star Wars' Refusal To Explore The Mandalorian?

It’s Starting To Feel Intentional

These coincidences of glazing overThe Mandalorian, especially after season 3, are starting to become more and more intentionalover time. It seems utterly wild forStar Warsto not acknowledge its most successful TV show, which means there has to be a reason behind it. It could be that the reception to season 3, which was certainly more negative than its first two seasons, causedStar Warsto want to pull away fromThe Mandalorianin many respects for fear of continuing such critical discourse. There are, however, other possibilities as well.

IfStar Warsis listening closely enough to the fandom, it could be that they heard the complaints over time ofThe Mandaloriangetting too much attention, which certainly would have been a valid point to make when the TV show was at its peak - particularly where Grogu was involved. It’s also true that Disney and Lucasfilm are currently experiencing somelegal trouble with formerThe Mandalorianactress Gina Carano (Cara Dune), and they could be staying silent about many things related to the TV show for that reason. Either way, it’s definitely being noticed.

Star Wars Needs To Remember The Mandalorian Is Still A Big Deal

It’s Their Biggest Sub-Franchise

The Mandalorianis easily the most successful sub-franchiseStar Warshas right now, and nothing’s going to change that - which means they need to be leaning into it rather than drawing back from it. While it is, of course, important to prioritize upcoming projects over old projects,it still seems odd thatThe Mandalorianis acknowledged a lot less than other past projects. The Mandalorian, again, is literally the basis of the nextStar Warsmovie and is currently in production, yetStar Warsdoesn’t seem to want to talk about this at all whatsoever.

The Mandalorian’s Complete Timeline Explained: From Din Djarin & Grogu’s Introduction To Mandalore’s Liberation

Beginning in 2019, The Mandalorian’s story has become absolutely essential to the Star Wars narrative. This is the complete timeline of its events.

As someone who callsThe Mandaloriantheir favoriteStar Warsproject, I know that my fellow fans and I are starting to get very frustrated by this. In fact,I’ve found myself unfortunately drawing away fromThe Mandalorianmore than before because of this silence, since there’s absolutely nothing to sustain my hype during this long period of waiting forThe Mandalorian and Grogu. I instead keep going back to my second-favoriteStar Warsproject,The Bad Batch, which the franchise actually seems to talk about and promote more now than it doesThe Mandalorian.

It would be hard for anything to replaceThe Mandalorianin my eyes, but there’s no ignoring how weary I’ve become watchingStar Warsseemingly lose faith in its flagship TV show. It’s difficult to keep the flame of passion alive when even the franchise itself seems to have dulled its own flame, other than pushing new merchandise options and promising more future developments that are still years away.Star Warsreally did strike gold withThe Mandalorianback in 2019, and despite its stumbles ever since, the franchise would do well to remember that.
