Summary
Frasier Crane is returning to Seattle in theFrasierreboot season 2, and I think it’s for another tragedy. Kelsey Grammer’s Paramount+ revival’s return was kicked off by thedeath of Martin Crane, mirroring the real-life passing of John Mahoney in 2018. The new show didn’t dwell on the specifics of how the beloved character passed away, but it’s a tragedy that inspired Frasier to relocate to Boston in the hopes of re-establishing his relationship with Freddy. Despite some criticisms, I believe it was a strong way to kick off thefirst 10 episodes of theFrasierreboot.
With Paramount+ renewing the show for its sophomore year, Grammer, who also serves as a producer and director, and his team need to come up with new stories for Frasier’s final act. TheFrasierrevival season 1 finaleeffectivelyfixed his lingering issues with Freddy, and while I wanted the story to go on for a bit longer, I understood the pair’s reconciliation in light of the show’s uncertain future when it was shot. Moving forward, one of the most exciting aspects of season 2 is Frasier’s return to the Emerald City, although the reason for it remains under wraps.

Cheers Bar’s Sad Status Saves It From Frasier Reboot’s Risk Of Ruining Ted Danson’s Comedy
The sad status of Cheers bar in Boston effectively ensures that it is saved from the Frasier reboot potentially ruining the legendary sitcom’s legacy.
Kelsey Grammer Returns To Seattle In Frasier Season 2
Dr. Frasier Crane WIll Have A Homecoming
Frasierseason 1 was light on nostalgic elements, which was a bold narrative route for a revival. Still, I appreciated that the Paramount+ series wanted to do something different, even though there was pressure to simply rely on the original show’s legacy. There were onlytwo big cameos in its debut year:Bebe Neuwirth’s Lilith Sternin and Peri Gilpin’s Roz Doyle. Surprisingly, however,Frasierseason 2is changing its creative approach and dialing up the nostalgia, and as long as it’s done right, I am all for it as a big fan of the Seattle series.
One way that the Paramount+ show is doing that is by Frasier’s upcoming homecoming to the Pacific Northwest in season 2. As part of the confirmation that theFrasierreboot will release new episodes this September, the streamer also shared that one of the upcoming outings will feature Grammer’s character back on the West Coast. Granted that the original show only filmed once on-location, Seattle was still such an important part of its storytelling.

Frasier’s Seattle Homecoming Will Be For KACL’s Closure
The Radio Industry Isn’t What It Used To Be
Paramount+ hasn’t revealed why Frasier will return to his hometown, but considering what we know about the show’s sophomore year, I have a good idea why. For context,Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert will reprise their roles as Bulldog Briscoe and Gil Chesterton, andHarriet Sansom Harris as Bebe Glazer. Gilpin’s Roz is also set to be part of the said episode. The great thing about the original series was that while it had a titular character, Grammer was surrounded by other fantastic actors playing interesting roles, and those three were some of the best ones.
Frasier Season 2’s Release Date Shows The Only Way For Kelsey Grammer To Get His Lofty Reboot Wish
The only way for Kelsey Grammer to achieve his almost-impossible hopes for the Frasier reboot is secretly emphasized in season 2’s release date.
As a big fan of the flagship series, of course, I’m thrilled. Unfortunately, what appears to be a KACL reunion may not be under the best circumstances. It’s possible that the reason why Grammer is flying to Seattle is to celebrate his old workplace’s closure. Two decades after he signed off atThe Dr. Frasier Crane Show, the radio industry isn’t as robust as it once was. Before the revival, I even wondered what his job would be in Boston. Between this and the people involved, a proper send-off to KACL 780 is the most plausible reason for Frasier’s homecoming.

While it was likely the lowest-paying job he’s had in his adult life, I would assume that Frasier treasures his time with KACL 780.
The closure of KACL 780 is also the most effective way to bring Frasier back to Seattle. He was also dealing with tragedy the last time he was home — the death of Martin. Considering his decision to spend theChristmas-themed Frasier season 1 finale, it’s safe to say that he wasn’t roaring to go back to the Pacific Northwest following his dad’s death. Because of that, the Paramount+ show needs a solid reason for his homecoming. While it was likely the lowest-paying job he’s had in his adult life, I would assume that Frasier treasures his time with KACL 780.

What To Expect From Frasier Season 2’s Seattle Episode
Dr Crane May Be Listening, Again
Seeing Frasier back in Seattle two decades after he left in the original finale is already quite nostalgic for me. I already loved the city separate from the show, and despite filming in California, the originalCheersspinoff made itself synonymous with the metropolitan — either by countless references to it or just by using the Space Needle as the backdrop to Frasier’s bougie apartment, despite its location being unrealistic. Whether the revival’s upcoming nostalgia-filled episode has the time to see Frasier hitting his old haunts outside of his former workplace is uncertain, however.
Frasier Reboot Season 2’s Original Cast Updates Confirm Kelsey Grammer’s Revival Plan Failed
Kelsey Grammer had a clear plan for the Paramount+ revival, but the Frasier reboot season 2’s exciting original cast updates admit it failed.
Aside from his much-anticipated reunion with Bulldog, Gil, and Bebe, however, there’s one other thing that is guaranteed to make me emotional in the said outing. TheFrasierrevival’s Seattle episode will seeFrasier sitting again in his old chairas part of his return to KACL’s office. It’s unclear if he will take calls for perhaps the last time, but just seeing him back in the booth that he lived in for more than a decade will definitely be poignant. Grammer himself revealed that even he was choked up when he sat down on the recreated set.

Will Niles Finally Reunite With Frasier In Season 2’s Seattle Episode
Frasier Is Due For A Visit At The Montana
TheFrasierrevival season 2’s Seattle episode already sounds great for fans of the original show like me. Despite Grammer’s return to the character, it didn’t seem like the new Paramount+ show had plans of revisiting his hometown after it was decided that he would be in Boston. Not to sound ungrateful, but I’m also wondering if this can pave the way for David Hyde Pierce’s appearance as Niles — Frasier’s much-beloved brother, who is still based in Seattle with his wife, Jane Leeves' Daphne Moon.
Unfortunately, there is no indication yet that Pierce will be in any episode of the Frasier revival.

Ideally,Pierce’s Niles would also be a part ofFrasierseason 2’s guest stars. Grammer wanted to bring him in as a series regular, but he turned down the offer, forcing the Paramount+ show to find another way to continue the character’s story without the younger Crane brother. Unfortunately, there is no indication yet that Pierce will be in any episode of theFrasierrevival. So for now, knowing that we’ll see Bulldog, Gil, and Bebe is already very exciting.
