The show initially centered around polygamist Kody Brown and his four wives: Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown.Sister Wivesdocumented the complexities of plural marriage as the family raised their 18 children together while Kody bounced between the four households. WithKody as the patriarch, it was easy to see why he held the main role on the show.
However, the past several years have seen Kody’s idyllic family crumble.His relationship with Robyn flourished, triggering jealousy and accusations of favoritism. Meanwhile, Kody’s marriage to his first wife, Meri, was hanging by a thread, and he became estranged from many of his adult children. Now that Kody is in a monogamous marriage with Robyn and has little interaction with his children or former wives, I’m convinced a shift in screen time is vital to the show’s future.

I would be fascinated to see more of their stories now that they finally have the space and freedom to achieve their dreams.

Kody hasn’t taken accountability for the damage he’s done to his children, leading to estrangement with little hope of reconciliation.

With Kody no longer serving as the glue that holds the family together—actually bearing the responsibility for tearing it apart—I think the best way to move forward would be for him to step aside and finally allow his ex-wives to take center stage.
