Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episode 3!

Doc Seismic returns once again inInvincibleseason 3, and while it was fun, the Prime Video wasn’t nearly as cool as the huge crossover event from the comics. Doc Seismic has cemented himself as one ofInvincible’s most frequently recurring villains, with him fighting Mark in every season so far. Doc Seismic’sInvincibleseason 3 plan is bigger than anything he has done before, but it still isn’t as big as the plan pulled off by his comic book counterpart.

Invincibleseason 3 kicked off with a three-episode premiere, bringing viewers back into the world of the Image Comics story. Most of season 3 has focused onMark’s conflicts with GDA Director Cecil Stedman, with their moral differences leading Mark to quit working for Cecil. Despite this, Cecil calls Mark for help once again, with Mark and Eve going on a mission to find out why every superhero in North America has disappeared. When they figure out why, they are discovered to learn who is behind it: Doc Seismic.

With his new army, Seismic is able to kidnap every superhero in North America with two exceptions: Invincible and Atom Eve. 10 Things To Remember From Invincible Seasons 1 & 2 Before You Watch Season 3

Invincible returns in 2025 with season 3, meaning the events of seasons 1 and 2 will need to be fresh in the mind as the story continues.

This isn’t the case in theInvinciblecomics. Instead, a lotmore Image Comics superheroes are involved. Firstly, Doc Seismic’s plan is kicked off when he is originally stopped by a team known as The Pact. The Pact is made up of Invicnible and other Image Comics superheroes, such as ShadowHawk, FireBreather, and Zephyr. When Seismic attempts this plan again, he captures theInvincibleheroes alongside the Astounding Wolf-Man and Zechariah, with the story acting as an Image Comics crossover.

Why Prime Video’s Invincible Show Can’t Use The Same Heroes As The Comics

It Comes Down To Rights Issues

Replacing The Pact, Wolf-Man, and Zechariah is just the latest in a string of hero replacements for theInvincibleTV show. While theInvincibleseries has full access toInvinciblecharacters, the Prime Video show unfortunatelyisn’t able to use other Image Comics crossover characters. This is due to rights issues, with the involvement of Amazon and TV rights making crossovers more complicated than they are in the comics.

Invincible Season 3 Review: I Couldn’t Be Happier With How Mark’s Hero Story Evolves In Confident & Fast-Paced New Episodes

After two stellar seasons, Invincible season 3 increases the moral and emotional complexity, enhancing Mark’s story and the viewer experience.

The lack of Image Comics crossover characters will continue to be a problem into the future ofInvincible. As the story progresses, these characters become more important, with Wolf-Man playing a big role in the Mark and Cecil story that season 3 is covering. Things like the Invincible War and the Viltrumite War also involve other Image Comics characters like Spawn and Tech Jacket, complicating futureInvinciblestories even further.
