Ted Lassoseason 4’s potential Jason Sudeikis return has been given a positive update by Warner Bros. TV Group Chairman and CEO Channing Dungey. The sports comedy-drama, developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, debuted on Apple TV+ in August 2020 to critical acclaim, earning 61 Primetime Emmy nominations, and running three seasons and 34 episodes before concluding in May 2023. TheTed Lassoseason 3 finaleleft a lot of questions unanswered, but it seemed the show would return for another season.
However, rumors ofTed Lassoseason 4 refuse to go away, and whilst nothing has formally been confirmed, a fourth season is believed to be on the verge of being greenlit. During an interview withVariety, Dungey gave a promising update on Sudeikis’s possible return to the show for a fourth season, suggesting that the actor who played Lasso is interested in a return to the show, saying that the star is"feeling really excited, and feels good about it.“Check out Dungey’s full comments on the matter below:
“We are in conversations about season four, and they are very exciting conversations, but it’s still early days. We had always been clear that we there wasn’t going to be more ‘Ted Lasso’ if Jason [Sudeikis] and team weren’t feeling excited about it, and I can tell you firsthand that he’s in a place where he’s feeling really excited and feels good about it”
What This Update Means For Ted Lasso Season 4
The reveal that Sudeikis is excited about the prospect ofTed Lassoseason 4is huge news for the show, especially when the story looked to have ended with season 3.It seems highly improbable that the show would look to (or even have the appeal to) continue without Sudeikis' involvement, especially as he was co-creator, lead actor, and co-writer, so positive updates on his interest bode well for the chances of season 4 happening, as well as ensuring the quality and tone remains consistent throughout.
Varietyalso confirmed back in August thatWarner Bros. picked up options on three of the key actors, Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, and Brett Goldstein, meaning there are at least threecharacters who will definitely return forTed Lassoseason 4. And now, from Dungey’s comments,it feels as though it will only be a matter of time before Sudiekis joins them. If the show is to be officially renewed for another season, it would make sense that this would only happen once Sudiekis' involvement is confirmed, and this could well be something that is announced in the coming months.

Though Some Plots Were Tied Up, There Is Scope To Explore New Stories & Revisit Old Ones
At the end ofTed Lassoseason 3, Richmond failed to defend their league title, finishing 2nd to Manchester City. But I believe the club could come back stronger in season 4, and look to win back their title. As Rebecca sold the club, there will be new owners, and they could attempt to coax Ted back after he departs for the US. The finale showed he still has the passion for coaching, taking charge of Henry’s Little League team, and I don’t believe it would take much to see him back in the dugout forTed Lassoseason 4.
