Caroline Lawrie Played Martha In Wednesday Season 1 Episode 1

Confirmed by recent images from the 2024 sequel,Wednesday’s Caroline Lawrie will appear as the Dead Cat Lady inBeetlejuice’s Netherworld waiting room. This marks Lawrie’s second collaboration with Tim Burton after making a brief appearance inWednesdayseason 1, episode 1 asMartha, the red truck driver who picks up Ethan on his way to Nevermore. Martha’s appearance provides a callback to Large Marge from Burton’s 1985 moviePee-wee’s Big Adventure, culminating in a short but spooky stint inWednesdayfor the actor.

Now, Lawrie is expanding her experience in Tim Burton’s horror-comedy worlds by joining the afterlife ensemble inBeetlejuice 2.Lawrie plays Dead Cat Lady, a ghost in the Neitherworld waiting room who sits next to Michael Keaton’s titular characteron the couch. The Dead Cat Lady is seen with a deceased cat still connected to her, curlers still in her hair, and pajamas on, hinting at a grim death for the new character.
