Marvelis chock-full of heroes and villains alike who pose a significant threat to the whole world and even the entire universe, and a number of these characters have already made their way into theMCU. However, out of them all, only one stands above the rest as the “most dangerous man that ever lived” in the Marvel Universe. And the scariest part? He’s about to make his MCU debut.
InSentryVol. 2 by Paul Jenkins and John Romita Jr., readers are given a deep-dive into the origin ofRobert Reynolds aka Sentrythe likes of which they’ve never had before. As he begins to lose his grip on reality, Bob decides to tackle his demons head-on by exploring the forgotten corners of his past. This putsSentry on a collision course with his evil other half, the Void, who is keeping Bob’s origin a secret. That is, until Sentry finally finds the answers he’s craving, leading to the revelation that he’s the “most dangerous man that ever lived”.

It turns out, contrary to what fans had been led to believe up until this point, Robert Reynolds was not the only person who could have been turned into Sentry. In fact, Bob was just a local junkie who broke into a science lab to find something to get high on, and he just so happened to find the only vial of this super-soldier serum in existence. After he ingests it, the last remnant of this serum can only be found in Sentry’s veins, which has the potential to turn humanity into a race of gods.
Sentry Has the Potential to Turn Humans Into Gods, Making Him Insanely Dangerous
Sentry’s Biological Makeup is the Most Dangerous Thing About Him
While Sentry is incredibly powerful,SentryVol. 2 makes it clear that the most dangerous thing about him is his biological makeup. Indeed, the Void says so himself after confirmingthe secrets of Sentry’s origin, and the reason why makes total sense. If Sentry’s blood could be extracted, refined, and then mass-produced as a new super-soldier serum, he has the potential to turn anyone (and everyone) into a god.
Before the events ofSentryVol. 2, this was an impossibility, as fans thought Bob was special, and that the serum wouldn’t have worked on anyone else but him. Turns out, that’s not true, and the serum could have worked on anyone. If humanity was turned into a race of gods akin to Sentry, there’s no telling what level of chaos would ensue, not just on Planet Earth, but across the cosmos.

Will Sentry Remain This Dangerous in the MCU?
The MCU May Not Allow Sentry to Enter Its Continuity as This Much of a Threat
Sentry is about to make his MCU debut in the filmThunderbolts*, which means he may be bringing the level of danger he personifies in Marvel Comics into Marvel’s cinematic universe. The only question that remains now is: will the MCU let him? The MCU doesn’t have to follow the comics exactly, as the films and TV shows are adaptations, not shot-for-shot remakes. Therefore, the MCU may tone down Sentry’s immense threat level by making Bob the only person who could have ever been Sentry once more, eliminating the possibility that he could turn the human population into gods.
At Last, Marvel Has Found a Way to Make Its Villains Matter Again
Truthfully, Marvel villains don’t really matter in the grand scheme of the wider universe, but the Ultimate Universe has found a way to change that.
While it remains to be seen if Sentry’s biological makeup will have the same level of danger in the MCU as it does in the comics, that doesn’t detract from his current standing in Marvel Comics. Despite what theMCUdoes, Sentry is still the “most dangerous man that ever lived”, which is an impressive yet well-earned title in a universe as chock-full of insanely powerful characters asMarvel.
