The epic battles ofMarvel Rivals, the popular 6v6 third-person shooter game released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows by Marvel and NetEase Games, might seem random, butevery one of the game’s maps and characters have story points etched into Marvel lore,and a new Marvel Comics series helps connect those points.
Marvel Rivals#1 – written by Paul Allor, with art by Luca Claretti – takes place in the game’s Tokyo 2099 map, as multiple universes merge into a timestream entanglement, gathering heroes fromacross the Marvel Multiverse. In Tokyo 2099,the Web of Life and Destinyis damaged, and Master Weaver and his apprentice Spider-Zero argue over how to fix it.

Weaver wants to gather enough chronovium to allow the web to repair itself, and Zero wants to plug the Web into cyberspace and manually repair it, leading two Spider-totem-led teams to fight against each other to achieve both goals.

Hopefully, this is not the last Marvel Rivals comic, andthese other stories are told to their full extent.
