NewPokémon Legends: Z-Aleaks have pointed out numerous Pokémon species set to get Mega Evolutions in the upcoming game, including several fan-favorite and unexpected Pokémon. Yesterday, leaks began to emerge about the number of Mega Evolutions inPokémon Legends: Z-A. While it was known that Mega Evolution would be a focus of the new game, the leaks indicated that27 new species would be getting Mega Evolutions, increasing the number by over 50%. Now, a series of new leaks have pulled back the curtain on which Pokémon may be getting new forms.
The new leaks, compiled byCentro Leaksin a thread yesterday, claim thatClefable, Starmie, Dragonite, Falinks, Scolipede, Skarmory, Barbaracle, Drampa, Dragalge, Hawlucha, Barbaracle, Scrafty, Pyroar, Froslass, and Chandelure will all get Mega Evolutions. This is in addition to previous leaks that indicated that the three Kalos Starters (Greninja, Delphox, and Chesnaught) and the new game’s Starter Pokémon (Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr) would get Mega Evolutions alongside Zygarde and Zeraora.

Why Mega Evolutions Will Be So Prominent In Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Mega Evolutions Were First Introduced In Pokémon X And Y, Which Were Also Set In The Kalos Region
Assuming all the leaks are accurate, it’s likely that we now know all of the Pokémon getting new forms in the game. Adding Victreebel and Excadrill to the list, there are 25 species named in the leaks. The remaining two species are likely tied toLegendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal, which first appeared inPokémon X and Y. Adding this many new Mega Evolutions is a surprise only in thatit represents a significant amount of new content for the new Pokémon game.Pokémon Legends: Arceusfeatured only seven new Pokémon, although another 19 Pokémon got new forms in the game.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Confirms The Return Of A Mysterious Pokémon Not Seen Since X & Y
Pokémon Legends: Z-A will introduce Eternal Flower Floette as a key part of the new story, exciting players about the long-missing Pokémon.
One thing that remains unclear is how many new Pokémon we’ll see inPokémon Legends: Z-A. We could see new regional forms in the game (reflecting the urban setting forPokémon Legends: Z-A, a first for the franchise), or new evolutions. Or, it’s possible that the sole focus will be on Mega Evolutions, similar to the gimmick’s emphasis inPokémon X and Y. Because of the glut of Mega Evolutions,Pokémon X and Yintroduced the fewest new species of Pokémon in any generation of main series game.

Our Take: Lots To Like About The Leaked List
The Leak Includes Several Of My Personal Favorite Pokémon, So Hopefully It’s Real
The list of supposed Mega Evolutions includes plenty of Pokémon that should make fans happy, with a mix of Gen 1 favorites and more recent Pokémon. I’m personally glad that Skarmory (one of my unheralded favorite Pokémon) is getting a Mega Evolution as is the lovable Drampa. Hopefully, these Mega Evolutions add a ton of new versatility and flavor to the games, especially as we don’t know how long Mega Evolutions will last inPokémon Legends: Z-Aor how they will work in thenew battling system.
