TheMy Hero Academiafranchise has one of the most interesting and endearing casts of characters that have stolen the hearts of millions of fans. While not all of them had the opportunity to interact with one another, there were plenty of teams and couples that became iconic for the series, such as Kirishima and Mina or Gentle Criminal and La Brava.
Yet now that the story is officially over, fans have noticed that there was another incredible team-up that would have taken Hero Society by surprise:Bakugo and Mirko. Despite how little these two characters interacted, their brief conversations show the incredible chemistry between them. Mirko had the potential to be a rival or mentor-like figure for Deku’s childhood friend, but this was not explored, much to the disappointment of fans.

Mirko and Bakugo Would Have Been an Amazing Team
Both Would Push Each Other to Their Limit
Bakugo is one of theMy Hero Academiacharacters who does not need an introduction, as he is considered by manyone of the most powerfuland beloved cast members. Deku’s childhood friend is a fierce and prideful warrior, always looking for ways to better himself and overcome life’s obstacles. The number 5 hero, Mirko, is also known for being a determined and confident fighter, often trying to surpass her limitations. She is the focus of some of the best scenes in the series, moments in which Rumi overcomes the toughest of hardships.
My Hero Academia Shares Timeskip Designs for Mirko, Mt. Lady, and More
A plethora of old friends from My Hero Academia’s tenured universe have been given fresh looks with volume 42’s hot new epilogue chapter #431.
When looked at closely, there is no doubt thatBakugo and Mirko are far more similar than the series ever gave them credit for. It is these similarities in both personality and goals that would have turned them into an outstanding team. Katsuki and Rumi could have pushed each other to constantly surpass their limits, like what occurred between Bakugo and Deku. Nonetheless, Dynamight respects Mirko from the beginning, being impressed by her resilience and strength.

Mirko Could Have Helped Best Jeanist Change Bakugo for the Better
She Would Have Been a Stricter Mentor
One of the reasons why Mirko and Bakugo not having a deeper connection in the series is so disappointing is the potential benefits Bakugo could have received from the senior hero’s teachings. Rumi had the potential to be a positive influence on Bakugo, either as a rival or a mentor. While Best Jeanist acted more like a patient and understanding guardian,Mirko would have been the stern teacherwho would not allow Bakugo to disregard his flaws. Despite the perception fans have of Rumi being violent and reckless, the reality is that she only acts in dangerous ways when necessary.
She might be overconfident and eager to fight, but Mirko was not an outwardly vicious hero. Being mentored by her would have taught Bakugo how to use his gifts for the benefit of others. With her guidance, Katsuki could have learned to focus his anger and pride on becoming a better hero earlier in the series. The number five hero would have also scolded him forhis horrible behavior. Episode #145 is a perfect example of this, as the duo can be seen playfully bantering while also pushing the other to do better.

Mirko and Bakugo Could Have Also Been a Dangerous Duo
Rumi Could Have Been Negatively Influenced
While a team-up between Bakugo and Rumi would have been an amazing addition to theMy Hero Academiaseries, it also had the potential to become prejudicial. Before the Dark Hero arc, Deku’s childhood friend was by no means an ideal student, still stuck in his delusions of being the best fighter in the world. That version of Katsuki could have hurt Rumi more than benefited her, as their conversations would have ended in constant fights. The Number 5 hero might have become more violent, pushed to the extreme due to her student’s recklessness and anger issues.
Having a mentor as energetic and willing to risk everything for the success of a mission would have also encouraged Bakugo’s bad habits. Mirko’s unwillingness to give up had the possibility of reinforcing Katsuki’s belief that victory is everything. This would have greatly hurtall the growth Dynamight went through while studying at U.A. High. While working together for brief periods would have been ideal, having Mirko as Bakugo’s mentor would not have been the best idea during the early stages of the story.
Despite their brief interactions with each other, an imaginary team-up betweenMirko and Bakugois an extremely entertaining and intriguing concept. They are undoubtedly some ofMy Hero Academia’s best characters, and it would be great to know if their future selves have indeed had the chance to work together that fans waited years to see.
