Boruto: Two Blue Vortexhas entered its second year of serialization, and with the first arc seemingly over, it’s time for one of the main characters to shine. The series has been growing its supporting cast gradually, but the focus will shift to one of the series' most popular characters.
In an interview, Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto, the two creators ofBoruto, discussed the creative process and shared some interesting aspects of the story, such as Code’s potential death, Kishimoto’s regrets toward Sakura, and more. While talking about the parallel between Kawaki, Boruto, Naruto, and Sasuke, it was revealed thatKawaki’s character would be developed soonand would most likely receive a mini-arc at least. This exciting confirmation edges fans closer to the long-awaitedshowdown between Boruto and Kawaki.

Kawaki’s Self-Hate Could Be Addressed Soon
One of Boruto’s most complex character may finally have a chance to process everything that’s happened
Although it wasn’t confirmed what aspect of his character would be developed, it is very easy to pinpoint what Kawaki should shed if he wants to be better. Because of his tragic childhood where he was always used and demeaned, Kawaki developed an incredible sense of inferiority and has no regard for himself. On numerous occasions, he berates himself and calls himself worthless. This explains why he is strongly attached to Naruto, the first person to ever acknowledge him and show him kindness.
“Kawaki is a character who lost everything and doesn’t realize his own value.”

How the series will go about him overcoming this will be very interesting as it is not very likely a simple fight would make his insecurities go away. TheNarutofranchise has always tackled sensitive topics such as PTSD, depression, trauma, and more, making fans feel more emotionally connected to the characters and sympathize with them.
This would also continue the trend of the second main character going through a crisis and emerging as a different person. Kawaki is possibly the most interesting character in the series at the moment, and as Ikemoto admitted, isthe reason the plot can progress, so it is high time the story was focused on him.
Another point that he might develop is his strength, and chapter #13 opened up a possibility for him to become stronger using Shinjutsu. At the moment, there is a huge gap between him and Boruto and he isoverwhelmed by Jura and the villains, so he desperately needs a power-up. The series' first arc is wrapping up soon and excitement is sky-high going into the second with all the major developments and twists, butBoruto: Two Blue Vortexdoing justice to Kawaki will be one of the most exciting plot lines.
