Are Audiences Actually Enjoying Incoming?

The Movie’s Rotten Tomatoes Scores May Be Telling

While the negativeIncomingreviewsdo not seem to have impacted its ability to draw in a worldwide streaming audience, its Rotten Tomatoes audience score on what has now been dubbed the Popcornmeter tells a different story. While audiences have given it a stronger score than critics, out of more than 100 ratings at the time of writing, the movie has earned a still Rotten 59%. While it is possible that the score could fluctuate and be pushed over the 60% threshold into a Fresh score,it does not seem that an overwhelming majority of viewers are enjoying the movie.

The newNetflix original comedy moviecould be benefitting from the tendency for any new movie on the platform to get a boost and land on the chart. Its ability to connect with audiences will ultimately be proven by whether or not it has longevity on on the chartor drops off after just a few weeks. It has also been viewed for significantly fewer hours than the streamer’s other major comparable debuts of the past two years. Below, see how its debut compares with other recent Netflix teen comedies:

Time will tell ifIncomingdevelops a reputation beyond what it enjoys during the first week of its debut. However, it seems unlikely that the movie could earn a sequel unless it gets a huge boost in viewership in the remainder of its first 30 days on the platform. So far, none of the teen comedies that performed better since 2022 have earned follow-ups either, setting a negative precedent for the future of the new movie.
