Netflix’s hottest new romance series,My Happy Marriage, has finally released its first full trailer for season 2, along with a release window for fans to look forward to. Based on the web novels by Akumi Agitogi,My Happy Marriagewas an instant hit among fans when it was first released on Netflix back in July 2023 and after a year-long wait, the popular romance series is finally set to make a return this Winter 2025.

A post on X by the anime’s official account recently revealed thatseason 2 ofMy Happy Marriagewill be released in January 2025.The announcement was accompanied by a new teaser trailer featuring Miyo dreaming of running towards her mother’s cherry blossom tree and Kiyoka ominously asking for her forgiveness before telling her he loves her.

The trailer also features Miyo meeting Kiyoka’s parents and introduces a mysterious new character named Naoshi Usui, the leader of an organization known as the Gifted Communion Sect who refers to Miyo as his daughter. Anew key visual for season 2featuring Kiyoka and Miyo standing under a cherry blossom tree has also been revealed.

Much like season 1, the upcoming second season ofMy Happy Marriagewill also be animated by Kinema Citrus. The original Japanese voice cast will also be reprising their roles in the series, with Reina Ueda voicing Miyo Saimori and Kaito Ishikawa voicing Kiyoka Kudo. Joining the cast as Kiyoka’s father, Tadakiyo, is Ryotaro Okiayu, with Kikuko Inoue as Kiyoka’s mother, Fuyu, and Yuya Uchida as Naoshi Usui.

In addition to the newly introduced characters, Kadokawa has also revealed the staff responsible for season two’s production. Season 2 ofMy Happy Marriagewill be directed by Takehiro Kubota, joined by Masayuki Kojima, with Ami Sato in charge of the series composition and screenplay. Other notable production staff include:

Season 2 of My Happy Marriage Promises Interesting Plot Developments

Despite its inconspicuous protagonist and plot,My Happy Marriage’s inexplicable charm quickly garnered popularity and was instantly renewed for a second season as soon as its final episode aired back in September 2023. That said, there were also some fans who complained that the plot fell off in the second half of the show.

Having adapted only two of the eight web novels that the anime is based on,My Happy Marriagehas plenty of content to go off for season 2, which, based on the new trailer, is going to be quite intriguing in terms of story development. The trailer teases a deeper dive into Miyo’s Dream Sight ability as well as the introduction of fresh new antagonists in the form of Kiyoka’s parents and the mysterious figure named Naoshi Usui, whose motives for targeting Miyo are still unclear.
