10 Things You’d Never Know About Darth Maul If You Just Watched Star Wars Movies & Shows

There are numerous fascinating facts about Darth Maul that one would only know if they looked far beyond the Star Wars movies and TV shows.

This Concept Trailer Is Everything Darth Maul’s Star Wars Story Needs

Darth Maul has proven himself as a character worthy of his manyStar Warsreturns, but that doesn’t mean that all of his plotlines feel finished. In fact, although Darth Maul died in a final confrontation with Obi-Wan Kenobi inRebels, his story feels unfinished in large part because of his appearance inSolo. Specifically, that movie saw a surprise cameo by Darth Maul, in which Maul was the leader of a crime syndicate, Crimson Dawn (for which the concept trailer is named).

While that created countless possibilities, it’s unclear whether that story will ever be told; however, this gap in Maul’s story is precisely what makes this concept trailer so brilliant. Indeed, not only does it suggest that Maul’s time as a crime boss will finally be elucidated, but also, it brings closure to otherStar Warsstories as well. Notably, Bo-Katan Kryze can be heard in voice-over explaining that Darth Maul killed her sister, Satine Kryze. Presumably, that would mean Bo-Katan finally getting justice for her sister, which has yet to happen inStar Warsshows or movies thus far.

The concept trailer also saw the return of Qi’ra, a fan-favorite addition to the franchise fromSolo. AlthoughSolowas not largely considered one ofStar Wars’best movies, audiences did generally like Qi’ra and would be interested in seeing such a return. Yet again, though, it remains to be seen whether Qi’ra will ever be brought back to the live-action screen in the franchise.

Of course, the trailer also included a confrontation between Darth Maul and Darth Vader, a match-up that audiences would undoubtedly be thrilled to see. As made clear inThe Clone Wars, Maul blamed Vader for his own downfall, as he believed Palpatine/Darth Sidious had cast him (and Count Dooku) aside to make way for Vader. Having these aspects ofDarth Maul’sStar Warsstory come together would truly be perfect, which makes it devastating that this concept trailer is unlikely to come true.
