The students ofMy Hero Academia’s Class 1-A are clear proof of how intriguing and unique the power system of the series is. Each of these determined fighters had a particular power, all with their strengths and weaknesses. Nonetheless, not all the Quirks of Class 1-A were equally powerful or versatile.

Among the most capable students in the series,Momo Yaoyorozu stands out for how useful her Quirk was. Woefully, the abilities of Class 1-A Vice-President were not as relevant to the story as they should have been. Her power to create any object by turning lipids into the necessary materials should have positioned her as one of the series' powerhouses.

My Hero Academia: 10 Surprising Facts Fans Need To Know About Momo

My Hero Academia’s Momo Yaoyorozu may have one of the series most unique quirks, and here are 10 things fans of the series may not know about her.

Momo’s Abilities Surpass Almost Anyone Else’s in Class 1-A

Her Quirk and Intellect Should Have Placed Her as One of the Best Hero Students

TheMy Hero Academiaseries explains Yaoyorozu’s Quirk, named Creation, asthe ability to transform the lipids in her body into any other material. For this ability to work, Momo needs to know the exact chemical composition of the item she wishes to create. The Yaoyorozu heiress studied different compounds for years, turning her into one of the most knowledgeable members of Class 1-A. While not a powerful fighter, her Quirk and intelligence alone should have helped her quickly climb through the ranks of Class 1-A.

Nevertheless, Yaomomo never stood out much among her classmates, as her Quirk was mostly used to create simple weapons or small gadgets to help her during specific situations. The full potential of Creation was never shown during the series, which has been pointed out repeatedly by fans. Such a powerful and almost unstoppable Quirk should have given Momo the ability to defeat almost all of her opponents. For example, during her battle against Tokoyami in episode 21, Yaoyorozu created a shield to protect herself from Dark Shadow’s attacks. Instead of that, she should have created a tool capable of counterattacking her opponent.

While this first failure could have been attributed to a lack of combat experience and nervousness, her attitude toward fighting never changed much as the story progressed. Even after her mock battle against Aizawa, during the Final Exams Arc of the series,Yaomomo’s battle style remains unimaginative and simple. Her de facto weapon is a metal staff that never helped her much against dangerous villains. The best battles in which Yaoyorozu participated were those in which she thought outside the box and used her Quirk in unexpected ways.

Yaomomo’s Quirk Could Potentially Imitate Other Abilities

Her Power To Create Any Chemical Compound Opens Many Possibilities

Although, on paper, Yaoyorozu’s Quirk wasone of the strongest in the series, her performance always made it look inferior to others like Explosion or Half-Hot Half-Cold. Yet, Creation has the potential to create similar effects as Bakugo or Todoroki’s abilities. Proof of this is given during episode 121, in which Momo creates various sedatives to try and take Gigantomachia down. The fact that she can create these substances implies that her Quirk can create more than simply solid matter.

If that is indeed the case, her power could allow her to recreate a liquid similar to that contained inside Bakugo’s sweat, which could be ignited to explode. Similarly, she could produce a flammable substance that she could set on fire to incapacitate an opponent. What is more, seeing as Yaoyorozu can seemingly recreate any material, she could replicate other Quirks such as Midnight’s sleep-inducing gas or even Deku’s Smoke Screen. The possibilities of what Momo could have achieved if her Quirk was properly developed were endless.

In the end, Momo was relegated to the role of a supporting character, forced to use her abilities in unimaginative ways. Most of her fights saw her create a cannon, a blunt weapon, or a distraction so other stronger fighters like Todoroki could shine. With a bit more screen time and creativity, it is hard to imagine all Momo could have achieved in the series. Still, her character development is nothing to scuff about, as her story is one of overcoming insecurities and stepping into one’s power. While she could have been a much better fighter, Momo is still an inspiration.

The story created by the beloved Kohei Horikoshi may have overlooked some intriguing and exciting characters like Yaoyorozu. Even then, the world ofMy Hero Academiaremains a thrilling and absorbing reality in which most fans of the series would love to live. The Quirks that were given proper screen time and development will forever remain as some of anime’s most iconic, imaginative, and bewildering abilities.
