One majortheory surrounding Juliet’s death is that it was the cause of the flash-sideways timeline. This was a timeline where the plane never crashed and the survivors got off the plane at LAX. The plan was that if the island was infected by the hydrogen bomb, it would reset time and make sure the plane never crashed. Obviously, Juliet didn’t mean to create a whole new timeline as she just meant to re-write the history that had already happened, so that none of the events of the island had happened and everyone could live happily.
All audiences know is that her last thoughts were that “it worked”, so she could have created the new season 6 timeline.

Juliet wouldn’t have had to save everyone as they all would have ended up in purgatory together in death anyway. While there is no real confirmation in the show as to how the flash sideways timeline was created, this theory is arguably the most satisfying explanation.
