Summary

Anyone who’s spent time playingStarfieldwill be quick to acknowledge that moving around New Atlantis can be a pain but fortunately,a recently-released mod should make the tedium a little better. Hailed as one of the game’s biggest cities, New Atlantis is bustling withNPCs desperate to hand out queststo players who happen to walk past. The space can be difficult to navigate, even with the addition of a functional minimap, so a means of immersive fast travel feels almost like a necessity.

Posted to Nexus Mods by creatorTheMilkArtist, the “New Atlantis Subway” mod makes for quick and easy transportation around the sprawling world and adds more depth to the city. With the mod installed, players will be able to use three subway platforms that allow them to access the Spaceport District, Commerical District, and Residential District by simply hopping aboard a train. Since there are only a handful of Transit trains around the city, having more options available for fast travel makes exploring the map significantly more efficient.

One Massive Starfield Missing Feature Should Be Revamped For The Shattered Space DLC

Out of all of the cool features in Starfield, there’s one rare end-game encounter that is one of the coolest and simultaneously severely lacking.

New Atlantis Is Actually Fairly Dull

Look At All That Grey!

While fast traveling isn’t essential to move around New Atlantis given the city’s interconnected nature, it certainly helps players avoid what’s a fairly dull locale. Despite placing so much emphasis on establishing New Atlantis as a city of the future, the metropolis is actually sparse in terms of content with wide stretches of space feeling emptyand wasted outside of a few collections of stores. One can easily make their way from one end of the city to the other without triggering a loading screen, butthe process is flat and dull, especially when compared to other cities.

It doesn’t help that New Atlantis' visual identity isn’t especially eye-catching given that the architecture largely relies on bland, grey textures that become tired quickly. Contrasted against the vibrant aura of Neon and Akila,New Atlantis is easily the most boring city inStarfield. At least having an immersive subway system, together with the already existing trains, should make picking up essential quests and items less painful.

One has to wonder whether Bethesda has plans to flesh out New Atlantis. It’s possible that the studio could introduce some major changes and improvements in a future content patchor even theShattered Spaceexpansion. However, since the DLC is largelyfocusing on exploring House Va’ruun, it seems unlikely that much will be done to makeStarfield’s biggest city any more entertaining.
