Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece chapter #1132.25 years following its first mention,One Piecehas finally brought the Straw Hat Pirates to Elbaph, the land of giants. Elbaph is an arc fans have been waiting decades for, and seeing it finally come about perfectly highlights howOne Piecehas entered its final saga and is slowly heading toward its finale.
The Elbaph arc brings one ofOne Piece’s longest plot threads full circle, and it’s already made a major callback to how it all began. One Piecechapter #1132gave the Straw Hats and the readers their first full look at Elbaph accompanied by narration discussing Elbaph’s beauty, but rather than just be simple narration,One Piecechapter #1132 used the introduction of Elbaph to bring one ofOne Piece’s most mysterious characters back into the spotlight. What originally seemed to be a minor detail might be far more important, and there’s plenty to break down because of it.

Louis Arnot: One Piece’s Mysterious Explorer Explained
At the end of chapter #1132, it was revealed that the narration describing Elbaph and setting up the potential danger of the island was a quote from a mysterious explorer named Louis Arnot. This isn’t the first time he’s been referenced, of course; Arnot’s words were also directly quoted in narration when the Straw Hats first arrived at Little Garden right before they metthe giant warriors Dorry and Brogy, meaning thatOne Piece’s recent use of the character Louis Arnot is a direct callback to how he was used to first introduce giants toOne Piece25 years ago.
Why Louis Arnot Might Secretly Be A Big Deal For One Piece’s Story
Is Louis Arnot One Piece’s Next Big Mystery?
Nothing is known about Louis Arnot beyond his writings about Elbaph and Little Garden, but there might be more to him than one would think. For starters, while his naming Little Garden could be about the dinosaurs inhabiting the island, it’s implied to be about Dorry and Brogy, as his quote about it came right before Dorry and Brogy were properly revealed.Louis Arnot would have to have been alive over 100 years ago to have seen Dorry and Brogy on Little Garden, and if that’s true, then there’s bound to be something important tied into his history.
Another point to consider is how Louis Arnot traveled to Elbaph, to begin with. Elbaph is situated deep into the New World past Wano, so no average person could get there and live to tell the tale, and that means thatLouis Arnot would have to be a powerful character byOne Piecestandards to travel to Elbaph and leave the island in one piece. That creates a direct parallel to Mont Blanc Noland, who was also powerful enough to go to the New World and live, so Arnot was probably a figure of similar strength and standing, as well.

The biggest reason why Louis Arnot might be important, however, comes from a small moment in Robin’s backstory.Brag Men, the journal chronicling Arnot’s writing, was among the books the archaeologists of Ohara saved during the Buster Call, and ifBrag Menwas important enough for them to save, thenLouis Arnot and anyone else featured inBrag Menshould be vital toOne Piece’s worldbuilding thanks to the archaeologists of Ohara finding them important. All of this suggests that there’s more to Arnot than some minor worldbuilding, and with any luck, it won’t be long before that’s better explored.
One Piece’s Elbaph Arc Is The Perfect Chance To Explore One Of Its Most Mysterious Characters
Louis Arnot is one of the most mysterious characters in all ofOne Piece, and the Elbaph arc is the perfect chance to finally explore who he is. As previously mentioned,Brag Men, the journal that featured Arnot’s writing, was one of the books saved during the Buster Call, and those books were all brought to Elbaph by order of Saul. Based on that,Louis Arnot’s writing about giants being saved on Elbaph gives justification for his character to be explored inOne Piece’s Elbaph arc, and that would be great to see so many years since his initial reveal.
The way chapter #1132 ended also gives credence to Louis Arnot being explored. Arnot’s final message about Elbaph was an ominous one hinting at danger beyond the strength of the giants, far more important than him just naming Little Garden, soOne Piececould use the exploits of Louis Arnot to explain whatever danger there is in spending too much time on Elbaph. That would be a great way of using one of the oldest pieces ofOne Piecelore, so it will be interesting to see what, if anything, is done with it as the Elbaph arc finally progresses.
