Overwatch 2’s newMy Hero Academiacollaboration is actually exceeding fan expectations in one area, but there’s still a lot of contention surrounding the release and other recentOverwatch 2decisions.The game has been divisive ever since its launch, with gameplay overhauls and a new monetization model losing some fans loyal to the originalOverwatchexperience while bringing in a share of newcomers. A promised PvE campaign being canceled earlier in 2024 put the final nail in the coffin of the sequel’s original vision, but the classic PvP focus continues to receive ongoing updates.
Following the November 15 launch ofOverwatch 2Season 15, the My Hero Academia collab is now live, and a Reddit post fromRaidenXYaenotes thatthe full bundle of items costs 5700 Overwatch Coins in total. The price is essentially equivalent to $49.99, as an Overwatch Coin purchase of that sum grants 5,000 coins by direct conversion and a 700 coin bonus.
The bundle includes a lineup of five majorMy Hero Academiacharacter skins. Reinhardt is cast as the legendary hero All Might, Tracer as protagonist Deku, Kiriko as Himiko Toga, Reaper as Tomura Shigaraki, and Juno as Uravity. With 30 items in total, the bundle also includes highlight intros, emotes, voice lines, and more.

By the standards thatOverwatch 2has set so far, a $50 bundle with five Legendary skins for popular characters and plenty of bonuses is a comparatively good deal, as many of the comments on RaidenXYae’s post note. At the same time, accepting that premise requires buying into the major shift inwhatOverwatch 2construes as value, and applying that $50 outside the live-service economy could easily buy a complete game experience.

Overwatch 2 is reportedly planning on its next major port and while it could become a lot more portable, it may not be what the community wants.

Season 13 also includes the Halloween Terror event and seasonally thematic skins like Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker. As with theMy Hero Academiabundle, however, many new items are for those who pay.
Reinhardt All Might Skin Causes A Bit Of Chaos

Playing backup to the debate over value, granting Reinhardt an All Might skin has also proven to be a divisive choice. A Reddit post fromSuperM0haned6notes that a Reinhardt All Might skin had been a community request in the past, but many of the comments throw their support behind the idea that Ramattra should have ultimately received the skin instead. The frustration mostly stems from the fact thatReinhardt tends to receive more frequent skins than most other tanks, and despite the shared imposing stature, Reinhardt All Might ultimately looks a bit odd.
Community debate is ultimately the name of the game when it comes tomajorOverwatch 2updates, and arguments surrounding Season 13 and theMy Hero Academiaskins aren’t anything out of the ordinary. As a fan of how the original game stood out in the online market, I’ve never bought into the way thatOverwatch 2turned things on their head, but theMy Hero Academiacollab might be a lot more appealing for those who did.
