Sakamoto Daysdelivered a phenomenal episode in episode #10, and it left plenty to be excited about for episode #11 and beyond. There’s only one episode left beforeSakamoto Daysgoes on break until the summer, and despite some rough points from day one, it’s safe to say that the first half is set to end on a high note.
Sakamoto Daysepisode #10 followed up so many weeks of action and plot-based storytelling with more comedic and ancillary hijinks for Sakamoto and the rest of the cast. That being said, the second half of episode #10 was more plot-focused, as not only did it put Lu at the center of its story, butSakamoto Daysepisode #10’s second half set up further development for the overarching conflict with Slur. With only one episode left, there’s only so much the anime can cover, but hopefully, episode #11 will close things out in as satisfying a way as possible.

Sakamoto Days Episode 9 Review: A Great End To The Biggest Arc Yet
Sakamoto Days Episode 9 In Review
Sakamoto Daysfinally closed out another major arc with episode #9, and overall, it was great to see. For episode #9, specifically, not only was it another episode with surprisingly good and consistent animation from start to finish, but the comedic elements of Sakamoto’s fight, combined with the great resolution to Shin’s arc, made it plenty fun to watch on a narrative level, as well.Sakamoto Daysepisode #9was another episode of the anime with a surprisingly good combination of writing and animation, and even if it still isn’t the best, it’s nonetheless great to see.
As for the overall arc, it’s also plenty deserving of praise. The development of Shin’s character and the setup for plot points with Slur and the Order made for the anime’s strongest writing to date, and with a surprisingly strong string of animation from start to finish,Sakamoto Days’ Lab arc is easily the anime’s best arc to date when it comes to both the writing and the animation. The past few episodes ofSakamoto Daysare easily the anime’s best offering, and hopefully, what’s left of the anime will be just as good to watch, if not better.

What Happened In Sakamoto Days Episode 10?
Produced By TMS Entertainment; Directed By Yuki Taki
In the first half ofSakamoto Daysepisode #10, “Bathhouse Roughhouse”, Sakamoto and everyone went to a local bathhouse to unwind after everything they went through at the Lab, but the bathhouse they went to was managed by a would-be assassin after Sakamoto’s bounty. The assassin, Yutaro, tried to take Sakamoto out with various booby traps, and while Shin was overwhelmed by them, Sakamoto found the experience relaxing. At the end of it all, Sakamoto even complimented the bathhouse, and because of that,Yutaro decided to quit being an assassin and fully devote himself to working at his family’s bathhouse.
In the second half of episode #10, Sakamoto, Shin, and Lu were out getting lunch when they were suddenly confronted by a group of assassins. The assassins, as it turned out, were from Lu’s mafia family and their leader, Wutang, had shown up to bring Lu back to assume her role of leader following her parents’ death. Naturally, Lu refused, and since Wutang knew he couldn’t take them in a fight,Wutang challenged the Sakamoto’s crew to a game of wits where he would get Lu if he won and they’d get information about Sakamoto’s bounty if he lost.

The alternative competition Wutang challenged the group to brought them to an underground casino to see who could earn the most amount of money within a certain amount of time. Unfortunately, not only was Wutang a genius who could win money with ease, butSakamoto and Shin were both completely unfamiliar with gambling, thus putting them at a major disadvantage. The episode ended on the cliffhanger of the situation, and following that, it included a post-credits scene showing that Seba and Tanaka, now out of work, opened a crepe food truck that became popular thanks to Seba’s invisibility technology.
Sakamoto Days Finally Puts Its Most Wasted Character Back In The Spotlight
Lu Might Finally Get The Respect She Deserves
While not much happened inSakamoto Daysepisode #10, something especially notable about it is how it finally puts Lu back in the spotlight.D espite being one of the main characters, Lu has gotten far less focus compared to Sakamoto and Shin, with her mostly being used for comedic relief and advancing other characters’ arcs at the expense of her own. Now, though,Sakamoto Daysepisode #10 bringing the story back to Lu and her backstory is the perfect chance to give her some focus and character development, and hopefully, episode #11 will know how to capitalize on that.
Sakamoto Days Heads Into Its Midseason Finale On A Surprisingly Quiet Note
Why Sakamoto Days Suddenly Toned Down Its Action
Despite being the last episode before the midseason break,Sakamoto Daysepisode #10 is a surprisingly quiet one. Not only was it surprisingly light on action, but even the story content was toned down from previous weeks, with it prioritizing comedy and character actions over plot, even if the second half did have some notable setup for how the overarching narrative would advance once more.TheSakamoto Daysanimeslowing down its pacing in the lead-up to its midseason finale is a very odd decision on the anime’s part, and it leaves things feeling noticeably anticlimactic.
That being said, the decision was ultimately for the best. After so many weeks of little more than action and heavy plot developments,Sakamoto Daysneeded to do something to slow things down and give both the characters and the audience a break, so as out of place as it might feel,Sakamoto Daysepisode #10 needed to be structured the way it is to provide some much-needed levity after such an intense story arc. In that sense, it’s hard to find fault withSakamoto Daysepisode #10, and it will hopefully make way for an equally impressive midseason finale.

Be sure to watchSakamoto Daysepisode #11 when it releases on Saturday, March 22.
