Sakamoto Daysdelivered another surprisingly fun episode with episode #7, and it left a lot to be excited about for episode #8 and beyond. The anime seems to be heading into the climax of its first half, and despite the anime’s many hangups, if it keeps the momentum of episode #7 going, it’s in for a stellar midseason finale.

Sakamoto Daysepisode #7 opened innocently enough, with the episode beginning with Shin and Lu running the store by themselves while Sakamoto went to an event at Hana’s school. Things took a turn for the worse when Lu was suddenly kidnapped by masked men, however, and when Sakamoto and Shin chased after them, they learned thatLu’s kidnappers were connected to the people who gave Shin his psychic powers so many years ago. The anime’s larger narrative is finally starting to come out in a major way, and it will be great to see how episode #8 keeps things going.

Sakamoto Days Episode 6 Review: More Than A Welcome Change Of Pace

Sakamoto Days Episode 6 In Review

DespiteSakamoto Daysepisode #5’s poor performance, episode #6 was surprisingly entertaining. Not only was the action fairly consistent, at the very least never reaching the anime’s lowest lows, butHeisuke’s goofy and sympathetic personality makes him a great addition totheSakamoto Dayscast, and if he’s set to become a main character, then the already strong character writing is bound to get even better in the upcoming weeks. It was a nice episode to get after so much heavy action and story beats, in addition to inconsistent visuals, and fortunately, episode #7 perfectly kept that going.

What Happened In Sakamoto Days Episode 7?

Produced By TMS Entertainment; Directed By Yoshihiro Nishio

InSakamoto Daysepisode #7, “Jurassic Bastard,” Shin and Lu were left in charge of the convenience store while Sakamoto went to an event at Hana’s school, and the two inevitably started bickering with one another. Shin ended up walking out entirely when Lu said she couldn’t trust Shin to not read her mind, and as Lu stewed over how she went too far,a group of masked men appeared and kidnapped Lu, the group mistaking Lu for Shin because she was wearing his apron and nametag.

With a GPS device embedded in Shin’s nametag, Sakamoto and Shin tracked down the truck the group escaped in via motorcycle, but while they had no trouble dealing with the grunts, a man with invisibility powers named Seba got the better of them, and they failed to rescue Lu. It was at that moment that Shin revealed thatLu’s kidnappers were from the lab that experimented on him as a child and turned him into a telepath, and thanks to that, Shin knew that they would take Lu to the lab’s secret location beneath the Okutabi Science Museum.

A crying Heisuke

After dealing with various security measures in the museum, most notably a robot dinosaur, Sakamoto and Shin made their way into the lab where they learned that it was taken over a year ago by a man named Kashima. Sakamoto and Shin were then forced to fight one of Kashima’s executives, a mad scientist named Horiguchi, and Shin declared that despite his history with the lab, he still wanted to save them. After that, the episode ended with the reveal thatShishiba and Osaragi, members of the JAA’s Order, were approaching the museum to investigate a possible connection to Slur.

Sakamoto Days Needs To Do Its Upcoming Fights Justice

Why Sakamoto Days' Next Fights Are So Important

Sakamoto Daysis famous for its creative and energetic fight scenes, and many of them come from the members of the Order. The Order is an elite group of assassins on the same level of power and skill as Sakamoto, and sure enough, they all fight with the same level of creativity and raw power Sakamoto has been exhibiting from day one. Naturally, Shishiba and Osaragi are two of the biggest proponents of that practice, and with them about to join the conflict,Sakamoto Days’ animeneeds to do everything possible to sell the magnitude of Shishiba and Osaragi’s skills.

Given the anime’s track record, though, that might be a problem.Sakamoto Days’ productionhas been criticized by fans since before it premiered for its lackluster portrayal of the manga, and unfortunately, those criticisms have been more and more justified with each passing week.Sakamoto Days’ animation will always be an issue, but now,Sakamoto Days’ inconsistent animation runs the risk of ruining what should be some of the story’s most iconic fights in Shishiba and Osaragi’s introduction, so hopefully, the anime will do whatever it takes to make their fights at least look decent.

Sakamoto Days Is Fully Back On Track With Its Latest Outing

One Of Sakamoto Days' Best Episodes To Date

Sakamoto Daysepisode #7 was another surprisingly good episode of the anime. From a visual perspective, not only were the action scenes more consistent than normal, butSakamoto Daysepisode #7 had some unexpectedly creative and all-around good animation with how Seba’s invisibility was portrayed and the largely good CGI used for the robot dinosaur. Enough has been said about how inconsistent and largely lacklusterSakamoto Days’ animation is, but episode #7 proves that it can, in fact, look good when enough effort is put into it.

The biggest selling point of episode #7, of course, was its writing. Between the character development afforded to both Shin and Lu, the strong development of the story with Slur, and how great a job it did of setting up the Order getting involved in the plot,Sakamoto Daysepisode #7 had some of the anime’s strongest narrative beats to date and perfectly shows why the writing is so great.Sakamoto Daysepisode #7 has fully brought back the hype for the anime, and hopefully, episode #8 will more than succeed in following up on that.
