Scream 7adds another returning franchise star to its cast list. Wes Craven’s wildly successful meta-slasher franchise began in 1996 withScream, which became a modern classic. The success of the first movie spawned a franchise, which includedScream 2in 1997 andScream 3in 2000. Since then, the series has produced a total of six movies (and a television show), and it is continuing onward with thedevelopment ofScream 7. Brown played Mindy Meeks-Martin inScream 5and6, the on-screen twin to Gooding, who portrays Chad Meeks-Martin. The Meeks-Martin twins make-up one half of the so-called “Core Four” survivors, alongside the Carpenter sisters Samantha and Tara, played by Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega respectively. However, Barrera and Ortega will not be returning for the new movie.

Brown rejoining the cast firmly reunites the legacy characters with the newer, younger characters, and represents a metaphorical passing of the torch. It Could Be Brown’s Swan Song, But The Franchise Continues To Evolve
WhileScream 7will see a shakeup, with previous star Barrera fired, the franchise’s likely return to Woodsboro will certainlyprovide some familiarity and comfort for viewers. Whether Brown will appear in future installments is unclear, and there is a chance her character could be killed off this time around, but she will certainly have provided a strong character to the franchise.Scream 7should have more of the same, but theidentity of Ghostfacecould provide fresh excitement. Perhaps Mindy herself is the killer, having snapped after so much death and destruction.
