Summary
Following the explosive part 1 of the season 7 premiere, theSEAL Teamcharacters worked hard to stop terrorists from targeting citizens in a mall in episode 2, “Chaos in the Calm Pt. 2.” Although they were ultimately successful, lots of blood was shed, lives were lost, andBravo 1 is still nowhere closer to returning to active duty.David Boreanaz’s Jason Hayesand his team were the heroes of the episode (as they normally are). But the reality is that most of the men are struggling mentally, which will likely affect the rest of the Paramount+ military drama’s final season.
Jason, Sonny Quinn, Brock Reynolds, and Drew Franklin went into the mall to find the active shooters and neutralize the threat at the beginning ofSEAL Teamseason 7, episode 2. Meanwhile, Ray Perry and Omar Hamza tended to the wounded outside. Without any weapons, taking down the terrorists was difficult. However,Bravo 1 showed why they are the best and ultimately stopped the shooters.Despite the Bravo Team saving the day, many people died and lost loved ones, and Boreanaz’s character’s interaction with one of the terrorists will have an impact onJason’s arc inSEAL Teamseason 7.
How The Terrorist Attack In Sweden Will Affect Jason In Season 7
Jason’s TBI Is Significantly Affecting Him
As fans will recall,Jason has been suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) since season 5,and the terrorist attack inSEAL Teamseason 7, episode 2 has seemingly only made it worse. While tracking down the shooters in the mall, Jason came face-to-face with one of the perpetrators. The fight between the two was undoubtedly the hour’s most intense and disturbing. Jason fought the terrorist in hand-to-hand combat, but when a knife was drawn, the scene became very gory. David Boreanaz’s character ultimately killed the shooter by stabbing him in the neck, and he bled to death on the floor.
Killing the man obviously greatly affected Jason,as he could barely move afterward. Thankfully, Drew had Jason’s back when another terrorist arrived and was about to kill Bravo’s leader. Drew shot the man, effectively saving Jason’s life. After returning to the United States, Jason had a night terror and continued to appear shaken up by what happened in Sweden. Jason’s past wound has been reopened (and it wasn’t truly closed all the way to begin with), and it might take a while to heal.

At the end of the hour, Jason opened up to Mandy about being worried that going on ops would undo the progress he had made in bettering his mental health. Sadly, Mandy just smiled and essentially said everything was going to be okay (even though it clearly wasn’t).Jason has a problem, and it’s not being treated.As a result,Jason could be in grave danger inSEAL Teamseason 7.

The Bravo Team Is Still On Shore Duty
Even after their heroics in Sweden, Bravo 1 hasn’t been cleared for anything other than shore dutyinSEAL Teamseason 7. Jason and his men headed home early after the terrorist attack, and they thought that their actions would grant them some reprieve. Unfortunately, they did not.Command thought the Bravo Team “compromised their presenceby running into the fire.” So, they essentially wanted them to sit on their hands like the police officers at the scene. Of course, Jason, Ray, Sonny, Omar, and Brock would always choose to help people, but Sweden ultimately didn’t help them gain any favor back home.

Drew’s Mysterious Past In SEAL Team Explained
The Newest Bravo Team Member Is Hiding Something
Drew is still a mystery inSEAL Teamseason 7 as one of the many major changes to the Bravo Team. However, the appearance of Drew’s sister, Nora, at episode 2’s end made it clear that part of his drama is associated with his family. Nora told her brother, “The family needs us to circle the wagons.“A reporter is apparently digging into the Franklin familyand doing a podcast on them. Drew informed her that he wasn’t into family favors, which is when Nora seemingly threatened him. She said, “Go ahead, ice me out. Dad, too. But this could be your reputation on the line.”
Drew evidently has some deep dark secrets he doesn’t want to get out,and it runs in the family. The Navy SEAL commented that his family was “one sex tape away from being the Hiltons.” Only time will tell exactly what Drew is hiding, but the audience (and the Bravo Team) will likely find out by the time theSEAL Teamseason 7 finale comes around.
Why Sonny Attended Ben’s Hearing
Ben Is The Veteran Clay Was Trying To Help Before He Died
Stella and Sonny were supposed to attend Ben’s sentencing hearing together inSEAL Teamseason 7, episode 2, but Stella had to bail at the last minute. Sonny didn’t initially plan on going to the courthouse without her. However, something compelled him to do so, and when he got there,Sonny made a statement on Ben’s behalf.He told the judge that Clay would never have blamed Ben for his death and asked the court to give Ben “a second chance at having a good life.”
Even though Clay’sSEAL Teamdeath was heartbreaking and unfair, the writers are ensuring his presence is still felt on the show through the characters' grief and the resolution of Ben’s story.
Sonny made his statement in Ben’s favor because he knew that was what Clay would have wanted. Clay would want Ben to get a second chance, which is why Sonny felt the need to plead Ben’s case to the court.The outcome of Ben’s sentencing hearing is unknown,meaning that he will likely return in future episodes. Even thoughClay’sSEAL Teamdeath was heartbreaking and unfair, the writers are ensuring his presence is still felt on the show through the characters' grief and the resolution of Ben’s story.

While Sonny was concerned about Ben’s hearing, Lisa Davis learned that A.J. Buckley’s character has much more to worry about inSEAL Teamseason 7. To refresh everyone’s minds,Sonny punched Colonel Decker after discovering he was to blame for the Mali missionthat went wrong. Decker didn’t change comms channels as frequently as he should have, leading to disaster. So, Sonny tracked Decker down and punched him, and if anyone found out about it, Sonny would be in massive trouble, which is seemingly where season 7 is headed.
Lisa was informed that the Army’s CID was investigating the assault on Decker (who is now a general) and looking for the perpetrator. It’s only a matter of time before Sonny is exposed, which would bethe end of his career.Lisa will undoubtedly attempt to help Sonny cover the assault up, but Sonny will have to deal with the consequences sooner rather than later in the upcomingepisodes ofSEALTeamseason7.
